Channel Casting

Wonder if any FM's in the market or even the Berkshires will try the new Channel Casting craze that started in Long Island....15 minute blocks of uninterupted music with 1 sponsor per hour...something like that. No jocks, no expense...more for the bottom line. Who could resist. Must be from the book "how to destroy local radio and still make money".
 
I wouldn't consider it a craze. Its a way that one owner who had a hard time paying bills is cutting expense and trying to offer something that sounds like satellite on the FM band. There can't be much debt service, so in this case, they may be able to keep it afloat. This probably would not work for any newly acquired stations, as they likely carry debt load that would require more units per hour...
