"Channel X Radio features Local and world news, sports, and weather, plus we play music from six decades!"

The network includes a Full Power FM in Van Buren, in Madawaska, in Caribou, a translator in Fort Kent.. and AM 780 in Monticello. Theire legal id says "The most respected call letters in the county" and right after thhe call letters/city of license, they mention some Canadian towns and also mention the time in "Atlantic" time at the end of the legal ID.

I'm curious as to what kinda arrangement they have with 780, which is the old WREM 710 that just moved to 780 and became WCXJ. Why would an FM Network of mainly music want to be on AM? And, as far as I can tell, Allan Weiner owns WCXJ 780 and doesnt own any part of Channel X Radio.

I was told it was a lma, with op to buy and ch. x took care of the call change and that was fine as long as the x took care of the cost for it .And the owner has a fm soon to be on the air and the x will lma it also, and wIll put sports on the am 780. at that time.

whats the new FM going to be? sports as well? and whats the signal like in all those areas? I would guess with a full power in Madawaska, one in Van Buren and one in Caribou (as well as the AM) there'd be alot of overlap. Maybe one of the exisiting FM's can be spun off into something else

If you read the previous post, the new FM, 94.7 a Class A, that Allan Weiner got a CP in a recent auciton, will be LMA'd to Channel X Radio.

Actually, there isn't alot of overlap.. there's some, but not alot.

It will more than likely be the same programming they offer on all of their frequencies now. Too bad, it would be nice to hear something new when I go "up north".

Yes the x virus puts the doom on another station with its grave yard sound. Looks like it will move to the new fm when it signs on and some kinda sports will come to 780 and the x virus will kill a new fm from day 1

is the 98.1 in van buren on the air yet? I've heard Channel X before but only on a couple of trips to Caribou (from 97.7)....i would guess theres alot of overlap (even though they're Class A's) between 102.3 in madawaska and the new Van Buren station

and i agree with the above about the x virus...makes me glad to have satellight radio when i head up north

Yes , it was on low power but now it is on full power, well as full as that one gets, Today I saw wbcq a shortwave station of al weaner and he also has 780 that he was a lma with the x and he has not started on the fm yet, he has 30 school buses and mobile homes packed with all kinds of radio stuff , to see the shortwave stuff go to wbcq.com

The x virus gone from am 780, and it is now has the same programming as shortwave wbcq and I hear al is very happy as he gets twice the money to run the wbcq programming on 780 . and we are rid of the x virus thank god its off the am band. The x virus gave the am band a bad name. Now if we could get it off fm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yes, far as I know he is still there.I wish Al would buy the x virus and do something with it. Now it sounds like kids with a home made station in a laundry room with no clue what real radio should sound like.

LOL. That would put Al out of business. Many of his programs are provided by overgrown kids playing radio in their basements.

One great thing there He makes the money and kids play as he takes it to the bank, over $ 1000.00 a day.

At least that,he's running 4 transmitters these days with most of his airtime paid for. I wish I'd thought of it first.

If the Radio For Peace International bunch in Costa Rica would've followed Al's model, even partially, they'd probably still be on the air.

I was told he was, and working on the new soon to be fm for al.

780 USED to be controlled by Ch. X but for about a year now, it has been doing it's on thing, right now it's replaying what the new 94.7 has, which was as of Friday would be a sim. of WHOU in Houlton. :-\

I kind of don't want Ch.X to come down there, granted the signal is just unbearable and very hard to get much past Monticello, but the Houlton area has it's own soft ac-local- type station, WHOU

I actually perfer WHOU over WCXU/WCXX etc, Ch.X plays way too many tracks from the 60's in their reg. rotation, but the local morning show is something you just can't miss, much better than Bob & Sherri (to me).

Btw, they actually do have a website, www.channelxradio.com, not update too often, but it gives you some info about truly how local they are

"5 Decades of the hits" hmmmmm.....

I wish someone would buy ch. x and do something good with it, like shut it down and turn it in to a hotdog stand.

haha thats funny

Yesterday they said some pretty offensive and uncredible things about a recent teacher being fired, they were explaning on her last reviews she was "above average" and giving all kinds of stats, i thought it was kind of offensive, and if that was said at a different time and in a different taste, something SERIOUS could have happened to the station, it was un-real that nothing has happened... yet......
just because you are the only local joint in town, Ch.X doesn't mean you can't get into things like that and provide your own opinion.....

unbelievable, but what do u expect, really, it's Northern Maine radio
