Channels I would like to see made

A Sports Channel that's a Major Network but would just have Sports Talk Shows,Movies,Game Shows, like Sports Night Reruns and so on.

A Fox Cartoon Channel.

A Channel like VH1 Mega Hits was.

CBS doing it's own News Network and ABC News One on Cable Systems.

Fox doing a National Sports Net and Sporting News 24/7 to complete against ESPNNEWS.

A Channel just for Diasters Shows and Movies.

ACCUEATHER full time Channel to complete against the Weather Channel.

i would like to see a real science fiction channel more like the sy-fy channel was.

The Star Trek Channel - By my count there's about 740 hours of Star Trek tv shows and movies. It's enough to have a channel all by itself. You could throw in some of the other shows and documentary films that have been done about Star Trek too.

The Space Channel - All about space, the space program, astronomy etc. It seems to me that there are enough shows from Discovery and National Geographic to make something like this possible. Maybe team up with NASA for more original programming too.

The Reality Channel - yes, I know Fox had a reality channel, but it was limited to Fox shows. Do one that could cull reality shows from all the networks and you might have something. I enjoyed watching some of the old stuff on Fox Reality. I'm sorry it's gone.

News Of The World - CBC ran a network called Newsworld Interntional that aired news program from around the globe. I loved it. It was bought by Al Gore and changed into Current TV.
I think there's a market for international news. For that matter, I'd love to see someone run CBC's "The National" regardless of whether we get a full time channel for international news.

I suggested in a thread a while back "The Bomb Channel": nothing but just plain baaaaaaaad classic TV.

A relative of mine suggested this: "The all-Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Channel."

I'll second the NWI channel. It was a freaking tragedy that channel got sacked in favor of Current. Absolute idiocy.

There already is a "Space" channel in Canada. Not familiar with it but it seems similar to what Syfy used to be.

Animax -already a successful channel in most of the rest of the world, North America nearly is the only place that doesn't get Animax.

TLC -back in the old days, TLC and Discovery were competing channels. Discovery bought TLC and for a while allowed it to run documentaries and other good stuff. Then they got off-Discovery reruns. And now.... it's apparently aimed only at women. There's room for a return to what TLC used to be. It won't happen.

Speaking of Discovery networks, they need to spend some cash on new episodes. For example, there's six or seven seasons of new episodes of Junkyard Wars sitting in the can. They won't run them, instead rerunning episodes from 11 years ago. They've. Been. Shown. Already. Bring out the new episodes.

I'd want something like the old TechTV channel but it turns out that kind of content is now available off the internet, no TV channel needed.

Personally, I'd like to see decades channels for classic TV.

A 50s channel, for shows like I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, and any other shows from that decade (assuming they still exist).
A 60s channel, for shows like Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Andy Griffith, etc.
A 70s channel, for shows like All in the Family, The Bionic Woman, Charlie's Angels, etc.
An 80s channel, for shows like Small Wonder, Alf, Facts of Life, 21 Jump Street, Knight Rider, etc.
A 90s channel, for shows like 3rd Rock from the Sun, Veronica's Closet, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, etc. (any of these old enough to be classics, yet?)
A 2000s channel, for shows like The Bernie Mac Show, Malcolm in the Middle, etc. (again, same question as that about 90s shows)

As for shows that straddled two decades (for example, Full House, which premiered in 1987 and ended in 1995), the episodes from the 80s and the 90s could be on the appropriate decade's channel.

Thoughts?

Every time the idea of talk shows comes up, they tend to go with simulcasting the radio.
To better strengthen your point, I think they should try this idea while doing things radio can't.

So Mastaclocksetta apparently wants to see channels with a satellite radio (decade-specific) flavor... The obvious testing ground for that would be satellite TV.

And perhaps cd637299 forgot about the now-defunct Trio channel's "Brilliant But Cancelled" series.

Don't we already have that with the likes of NFL Network, MLB Network, or even the regional sports nets...

Hmmm, never heard of it....but then again, I have not had cable/sat for 17 years.

We have NASA.

A 24/7 Talk show Channel would be good.

We have ESPN but take away like Sportscenter,Games and that's what I'm Talking about because I would do Movies from Midnight to 7am,7am to 9am ESPN First Take,9am to 10am Sports Millionare,10am to 10:30pm Sports Jeopardy,10:30am to 11am Sports Family Fued 11am to Noon Sports Night Reruns,Noon to 1pm Coach Reruns 1pm to 1:30pm Outside the Lines 1:30pm to 2pm Sports Reporters 2pm to 2:30pm Football Live 2:30pm to 3pm baseball Live 3pm to 3:30pm Basketball Live 3:30pm to 4pm Hockey Live 4pm to 4:30pm Around the Horn 4:30pm to 5pm PTI 5pm to 6pm Rome is Burning 7pm to 8pm E360 8pm to 12am Sports R. Shows/Drama/Comedies and so on.

A Womens Sports Channel?

Encore family?

A Channel just Sitcoms 24/7.

Agree on the old TechTV and Trio, as well as the competing weather report channel.

One I'd like to see (and many others would too I'm sure) would be a classic reruns of soaps channel (with maybe some interview/behind-the-scenes type of show regarding the soap world (what's left of it) and it's actors). I know SoapNet was a bit of this at first but that corporate mindset clouded what was popular about that channel. Anyway, there could be a GSN-type overnight block of older soaps in black&white, and maybe some kind of catch-up weekend marathon of some of the newer ones that would air during the week.

how about a cable channel that sticks to its theme?

Wow, that too... 8)

I would like to see a new channel dedicated to variety shows. Not just old ones like Dean Martin, Colgate Comedy Hour, Dinah Shore, Ed Sullivan and others, but also original shows produced for the network, as well as international variety shows that could be seen only hours after airing in their respective countries. For example, Domenica In, which airs on RAI in Italy, can be beamed via satellite to the States and be seen with English voiceovers that same evening here.

I'd had a similar thought for TV Land to do multiple channels by decade, although I'd put the 50's and 60's together because of the lack of 50's material, or even two channels with a dividing line of 1975 or 1980. but since TV Land has gone the opposite direction, that's not very likely. Now I'll be happy if ME-TV becomes available in my area.

I had that idea too a long time ago; I think it would be fun to go a little bit further with those channel ideas.

Basically you can show cartoons, talk shows and game shows from those decades; plus a few sports shows and events(wide world of sports, etc.); you could even add a few retro local and national IDs and commercials from various stations and networks too.
