Chanukkah music?

One of the things I find funny is when Chanukkah ends on Dec 15 some radio stations will still play A.Sandler's Chanukkah song just because they are PC.
I am interested to know now that Christmas is over is anyone hearing Adam Sandler's Chanukkah song or the BareNaked Ladies Chanukkah song in their local market?

Um, I hate to tell you this, but Chanukah started at sundown on Dec. 25th this year, and continues until sundown on Jan. 2nd. If anybody is playing Chanukah music this week, it's actually appropriate.

Because your original post (go back and read it) said Chanukah ends on December 15.
______________

Not only that, but I'll go as far as to say I played it for my "Lunchtime Song of the Day" on Monday. The winner called me when he heard it and got some gift certificates to Andy's Frozen Custard! I figured being half-Jewish, it was only fair that I play the song the day after Christmas!

Re: Adam Sandler

I heard another song by Adam Sandler today. Judging by those two songs, which is far less than a good statistical sample, I think that his disconnected rhymes are far worse than Bob Dylan (also Jewish). Which makes Sandler the king of disconnected rhymes in songs. By disconnected rhymes, I mean two lines that have nothing connected to each other but a word that rhymes.

Remember that great line from Like A Rolling Stone?

He don't know where it's at
On his shoulder a siamese cat.

Just one of many examples.

That does not mean that Sandler is not funny. He has a knack for making disconnected lines with a rhyme funny. But I am not in awe of his song writing ability either.

Sometimes I have wondered why everyone loved Dylan. His voice was below average, when he was in his prime and his songs sometimes had to reach for rhymes.

Who do I think had a superior voice? Roy Orbison had the greatest voice in rock and roll. He did not even have to move. He stood there like a statue and sang a song.

That's ok, I used to play "Christmas Rappin'" by Kurtis Blow on July 4th.

I've heard Adam Sandler's Chanukkah song on The X (our local rock station).

I find it funny that anyone would cite that as a reason to play the song...I honestly figured it was a "funny" diversion from the other Christmas/holiday songs listeners are likely bombarded with as early as late October and as late as January 1st.

You don't see the word "when" before Chanukkah,I do.
That was the scenario in Dec.2004 I believe, but it doesn't matter what year it was. That was just a background rant to set the stage for my question.
My question which I am posting in the middle of Chanukkah(I thought that was self-evident) was about who could give me info on the playing of these songs under a far different and rarer scenario.
I haven't heard these songs in my market post-Christmas and i was interested if anyone across the nation heard them in their local market.
Feel free(anyone)to offer constructive critism of how I could have made this post clearer.

*shrug*

I offered it as an answer to your question. It is obvious from the thread posts that I am not the only one who interpreted your post that way.

BTW, Chanukah is spelled with ONE "k", not two. The Anglicized version, "Hanukkah", is.

Okay. The following is to be interpreted as constructive criticism.

You could have phrased your self-described rant as "when Chanukah ends before Christmas, I note that the Adam Sandler song is still played at Christmas." No specific date reference to confuse your intent.
______________

I think this word is like Mao Tse Tung,it can be spelled many ways.

I offer the website of Chabad as a more definitive source.

If you want, we can agree to disagree, though.
______________

Another Man Down - The Dreydl Song

First, Sandler's song is a Chanukah song in name
only. Most of the song isn't about Chanukah. It's
about who's Jewish. (Unless the radio version is
different from the one in the movie credits.)

I heard it in his movie on RV last week.

Strange movie. But I enjoyed it anyway.

Like Mae Ze Dung, it can be misspelled many ways by people
who don't know any better.

I think the two versions cited above are generally accepted.
______________
