I'm still getting calls and emails from people at the station, including the owner who got rid of me, needing help or looking for things. So, I know I'm missed. That's what happens when you're doing the job of 4.5 people: You become indispensable to anyone who really has a good grasp on the business world or a good understanding of their own business.
The whole thing is a long and disappointing story, especially since I left a good career in the newspaper business in Massachusetts to come back to Concord to work at WKXL. I did learn a lot though. And, long-term, this is change is a positive thing for me: No more 70 hour/7 day work weeks and more time with my family. I'm sure at some point someone in the media business will recognize all I offer a company and hire me. ;D
