Character actor Harold Gould dies at 86

...among many, many other character roles, including heros and villains. I saw him play a villainous homicidal ex Nazi once, though I can't remember what program it was in. The role was memorable, the show forgettable.

Gould also did a lot of voice-over work - up until perhaps 10 years ago.
 
I just watched him in "Silent Movie". He was in other Mel Brooks movies, too. I was thinking he must be pretty old now. I once saw him on a Jack Benny Program. He was very young at the time. I guess it must have been from the 50's. A very good character actor.

...I assume you refer not to his turns as General von Schlomm on Hogan's Heroes ;D ...

...in 1989, Gould was involved in a great little special for PBS titled Hanukkah: Let There Be Lights. It basically explained the historical aspects of the holiday to viewers outside of Judaism. I'm positive I still have the VHS I recorded of that special and will have to dig it up one of these days...
