CHARLES GOYETTE REPLACED BY DONALD IMUS

surprised nobody has posted that unfortunate news that charles guyette is no longer with AM 1100

don imus is, unfortunately, the replacement

whatever happened to credible journalism on the AM dial? that's what guyette brought for many years to phx

http://www.charlesgoyette.com/

There were posts here during his last week on the air. I hope he reappears on the dial in Phoenix...

I liked Goyette years ago, but he became a one issue guy and all he talked about was the football stadium. I got tired of the same old rant every day.

Because there is so little to listen to in the mornings, and I can't take more than 15 minutes of Jacobs, I would sometimes tune into Goyette. But recently, it seemed all he did was interview book authors. That is about as cheap as you can get for a talk show host. I wonder if he called them collect?

I do like Imus, he has enough entertainment and variety to make the show interesting. In a way, he reminds me of Sam Steiger....he'll say whatever is on his mind, politically correct or not. He doesn't even think about losing and advertiser or getting sued.

I DO NOT "get" Donald Imus. I dont understand why i'm supposed to "relate" to a grumbling, mumbling old hippy dude, thats about my grandfather's age (literally). Imus doesn't have nationwide TV promoting him anymore I don't think. Is the radio station's goal to make money with this show? Can they make money with this show? Or is there intention something diffrent?

Chuck went from entertaining to kook, obsessed and crazier with each show.

That got old.

I agree - what value to the radio dial is there to Donald Imus and his grumpy racist remarks. It's the dumbing down of talk radio, slowly, surely, and sadly. Goyette is an authoritative speaker and could easily go syndicated, and easily beat all the whining air america hosts.

I listened to the aircheck on the site. Some of the calls sounded canned, but it sounded good.

KFNX screwed the pooch by letting the big guy go.

Some bunch of idiots to cut a local show for a no talent syndicated talk host.

Sorry about the rant, but it's insane.

Imus is a joke, to me, anyway. I never heard him when he was a top 40 jock, was he funny then?

hey Beave:

Charles Goyette would make an excellent replacement for some of the low rated talent on NOVA-M and Air America

you might go to his web site and watch some of Charles' very articulate, humorous, and authoritative commentary from cable tv

...hunh? Why would KPHX want to pick up a castoff from KFNX, a station we already consistently beat?...

Just my opinion...

Goyette would only be relevant and topical on a liberal station for the duration of the Bush presidency. After that, he would be raking Obama (our next president) over the coals for his liberal ideology and would be spouting libertarian themes and ideas. Goyette only sounds like a liberal when he talks about Bush and Iraq.

Again, just my opinion.

Imus is carried nationwide on RFDTV (Ch 231 on Dish Network).
A long fall from the days at MSNBC.

I keep wondering when Les Nesman will show up and talk pork futures.

I don't know who is beating who in terms of ratings, billings, but that's irrelevant here as my point is about exceptional talent that is now off the air in a market of 5 million

maybe air america and nova-m could syndicate some "centerist" hosts like goyette to reach the independents, goyette bills himself on his web site as "america's most independent talk show host"

So, we're replacing a guy who can't get ratings and has been fired repeatedly, with a guy who can't get ratings and has been fired repeatedly. Replacing a never was with a has been.

All I can think about in this scenario is the talent that would love to have an opportunity to compete in the market and is unable to do so because stations keep hiring these retreads. Charles Goyette and Imus must have a permanent rainbow over their heads (or some pictures of people in compromising positions) in order to keep getting jobs when they have proven to be mostly failures.

I would love to be this guy's supervisor... Bad attitude, most likely also has bad ratings.
