I do not post here often, but I always lurk. I will have to disagree on several notes. The Charles Goyette Show is not The Art Bell Show. While Mr. Goyette may from time-to-time cover “conspiracies,” there is nothing with this. Can anyone deny that conspiracies have not happened? They do happen. By definition 9-11 was a “conspiracy,” from the perspective of the official story. (Professor Butler Shaffer at LewRockwell.com said it well at this address:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/shaffer/shaffer144.html .)
When the government leaves a big void open, it is only natural (and healthy) to speculate. (And what do you expect will happen with a void?) There are people, for example, that are demanding that certain pictures that the government has classified be released. With this void, comes speculation. When the government does not have a big and open debate, this is to be expected. And when the government does not have a big and open debate about Iraq, a void is left. People speculate.
It was healthy when conservatives wanted to get to the bottom of Clinton’s lies, abuses, and expansions of power. It is also healthy under Bush. When it comes to Leviathan, it is always good to question, question, question. Conservatives understood this (even if it were just for partisan reasons) under the Clinton administration, but because Bush has an “R” by his name we, supposedly, do not have to worry. After all, big government socialism with an “R” is ‘good.’ And this, by the way, is an exact reason why I am so turned off from most of talk radio. I am sick and tired of people like Mr. Limbaugh and Mr. Crummey. I am also sick of people from Air America Radio. This partisan politics is nonsense. It is all of charade. At least Mr. Goyette is not apart of this. And at least he is open to diversity of views.
There is nothing wrong with looking at different views, even the more “extreme” ones that someone like Mr. Art Bell may cover (e.g., 9-11 a government “inside job”). If the conventional wisdom is correct, it can then withstand a challenge from another view-point. And if someone with conventional wisdom will not debate or welcome a debate with a person that has a contrarian perspective, it seems to me that the person that holds the conventional wisdom believes that their beliefs are so weak that they cannot withstand a debate.
To my knowledge (as a regular listener) Mr. Goyette does not believe that 9-11 was an inside job (95% sure on this). Neither do I. Government is too stupid to carry out any program. Government always fails in its welfare and warfare socialism. BUT it is healthy to look at the “conspiracies.” And for someone to deny that there are not SOME (even if it is small) evidence or speculation out there that makes you wonder if there is slightly more to the story, comes to show that the person in question is not an independent rational thinker. The government is withholding evidence. This is wrong. Any independent person would agree. This was one of the most tragic events. And we have a right for the government to release as much information as possible-----even if it requires (as it should have!) some losses of jobs in the government.
And for Iraq: It seems nothing needs to be said here. It seems Mr. Goyette was dead on. And you have to give this gentlemen credit and give him some praise for sticking with his beliefs. He could have easily just echoed what the other talk show hosts said----It would have increased his chances for staying on KFYI, a very big station. But he did not do that. It says he has integrity.
He is on KFNX now. So what? He could not go back to KFYI. KTAR is too mute when it comes to the talk show hosts voicing their opinions. KXXT is gone. The new Air America station has a bad signal. Dr. Mike Newcomb and his followers practically bought the new station. Mr. Goyette would probably make little to no money on such a station (hey, got to make a living!). Could he move to another market? Maybe. I do not know. But that is not an easy thing to do-----especially because he has a young son here in Arizona.
From what I have been hearing from The Charles Goyette Show on KFNX, it sounds pretty good to me: Interesting and informative guests.... Packed loaded with information compared to the other talk radio programs..... Etc. Does it have a major focus on Iraq and the so-called war on terror? Sure. It is the most important issue. But he has been branching out more often then he did on Air America.
Respectively,
