Charles HJY

I've never listened to Charles on HJY before, though I've read about the program in postings here. I turned it on yesterday and he (I think Charles) sounded drunk. Is that how he always sounds? Like a drunk Imus? He said... "we're your hurricane station... no.. .we're your goddamn hurricane station". This post is not intended to ridicule... I'm actually curious.

That's just Charles for ya. Lately though it seems like he's not on the air so much and his segments are much shorter and Laurenti seems to be holding down the fort more. Maybe he's just exhausted from those late nights at HJJ.
I haven't listened much since The Traffic Troll moved on. The Big Show on WEEI has pulled me away as well.

Oh you definitely heard the best of Charles.
He's somebody with absolutely nothing of relevance or importance
to say about any topic but has an adoring fan base of 15 to 20 ex-hippies
and burnouts who hang on his every word.
He's perfect for FM because they can mix in music and news and traffic
reports to break up the mindless monologues.
You want a good laugh check him out on 920 HJJ at night.
Elevator muzak has more sizzle.

Charles doesn't have to do anything but be Charles and he does have an audience but if you look at the future I agree that HJY will have to make some decisions over the next 5 years when it comes to some of their personalities. The already skewing older audience will continue to skew right out of the desired demographic and younger ones are not going to sit through HJY.The high-tech generation is not into stations like this. For now though they are number one but Clear Channel does look at the future as evidenced by B101 changes.
