Sometimes upper management wants to change "direction". IIRC Salem let their Evening guy go even when he had strong ratings.
Sometimes these changes work sometimes they don't. I was at an old full service AC AM station that the new ownership decided to ax the on air staff to save $120, 000. Next year the billings went down $300,000. Two months later I was hired to flip an AC to Country and and billings tripled in two years. It just depends on the market.
Keith Sweat's syndicated slow jams show "The Sweat Hotel" is up for grabs in the ATL market. Considering Urban radio here has little to no syndication/voicetracking, I doubt they would pick his show up. http://www.thesweathotel.com/main.html
I thought the Charles Mitchell departure was part of an overall cutback at the Cox FM's. At least 2 salespeople were cut, and I was told about the salespeople and Mitchell at the same time.
