Charleston is getting a new Urban station!

Apex Broadcasting is flipping B92.5 (Top 40), Charleston, SC to 92.5 The Box "is Hip Hop" (Urban Contemporary). They will feature The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. They will be competing with Citadel's Z93. Both stations have 100,000 watt signals, I think the new station takes it though. Terry Base can't even touch Michael Tee.

Urbanradio704, it was just a matter of time. Apex is really gonna spank Citadel now, especially since STAR 99.7 already beats MAGIC 107.3. So this is where Rickey is going afterall. Charlmagne did mention change was coming to Charleston pretty soon via Twitter.
 
Congratulations Charleston. It's nice to hear about a station flipping to urban instead of flipping from it.
 
Sean Mack stayed on board during the flip from B92 to 92.5 The Box. He's now holding down middays from 10am-2pm as well as MD. New to Charleston Jay Tek holds down afternoons 2pm-6pm. He was last heard at FOXIE 103 JAMZ in Augusta in afternoons and the PD. I believe he's now PD in Charleston at The BOX. Night are still open. BTW, Rickey Smiley is mornings 6am-10am.
