Charleston Ratings

I believe this is the first time z93 Jamz isn't number one. As Urban AC Star 99.7 over took them. Also it seems Gospel is doing well with a big jump from 3.7 to 5.9. Elsewhere WEZL still beats out The Wolf for country where The Wolf went down instead of up. Also the two CHR's B and SX are close.

Wow, big jump for WJNI. Not surprised by WQSC's drop, that may have been why they flipped to the Boardwalk (which will boost their ratings in Spring book).

Good jump by the Bridge, too, going up 33%. They deserve it, with their great local programming.

Star deserves their no. 1 ranking. They have great local programming, have a local afternoon show (which its main competitor, Magic, doesn't have), and good music all day.

What a surprise, with the two boring Clear Channel stations getting 3rd and 4th in the ratings. I guess even though they sound like CDs sometimes with their small playlist, they still rake in the dough.

Why did Apex change 1390 away from gospel anyway? They were getting a 3.0. Anyone think Apex might put Gospel on 95.9 when it comes out as that was their reason for dropping it on 1390.

And I think the reason WSSX is low is they need to dump the talk in the afternoon with Seacrest and play the hits which B 92 is doing in the afternoon part without the talk of Ryan. Maybe they should go Hot AC, I thought they would of when they flipped Sunny 96.9 to The Wolf cause they told listerns of Sunny to flip over to SX.

Both WSSX and WIWF are faltering badly. IMO 96.9 should have never dropped AC. One of them needs to go AC or either Hot AC....

I'm not a resident of the Charleston area, but would anyone know what lead Citadel to think Country was more viable on 96.9 than AC? Was 107.5 doing better than 96.9 before it moved to Columbia? Just seems odd to me. Citadel likes to do True Oldies (from their syndication arm), maybe they should try that, oldies was always top 5 in Chas.

Apex may have dumped Gospel on 1390am because most markets now have Urban Gospel on a FM stick and 106.3 is the FM competitor. Not sure how much WJNI 106.3 bills, but they have the better coverage.

Isn't B92's night show syndicated?

the night show on B92 is syndicated with some guy named Jackson Blue. the show does not sound live. What happened to Mike Kruz?

The night show on B 92 still sounds alright but better before as it was live and people could call in. 95sx is live weeknights still correct?

It's not the 1st time that 99-7 has been #1... they average maybe 1-2 times a year at #1. Good newz for WWWZ, not #1, but they still trended up. STAR had a bigger jump and ended up #1- but not by much. Not sure what's going on with SX- they haven't been a contender in what, 3-4 years?

Charleston already has three different flavors of oldies, 50's and 60's on 980, beach music on 1340, and the soul on 1390, so I don't agree with that. If a station did switch to oldies (102.5 had great ratings), they would have been at least in the top 10.

96.9 was a great station as Sunny, great personalties, but they made that move only because 107.5 moved away. If they hadn't switched to country, WEZL would have about a 12 share and they would be 1st by far, so they made that to protect their other stations.

Would it be bad if WEZL was first and only one doing country in Charleston? I don't see how that would hurt any of the Citadel stations. Only thing z93 Jamz might not be first always like they have been. Maybe 2nd.

Wasn't WEZL #1 12+ when I was working in Charleston in 2003? Sure they were. Right about the time CC blew up Power 94.3..
