Charleston sports landscape changes

As said in a earlier thread, the entire Charleston sports radio landscape has changed today. It has been announced for weeks at WSPO 1390. WSPO switched from Sporting News to Fox Sports today.

Their lineup is Zack and Jack 6-9am, local show Southern Sports Now with Jonas and Big Ben from 9am-Noon, Jim Rome from Noon-3, Paul Finebaum 3-7, Petros & Money 7-10pm, Tony Bruno 10pm-1am, and J.T. the Brick overnights.

950 AM is carrying the entire Sporting News lineup, except for FanTalk from 4-6pm and SC SportsTalk from 6-8pm.

Imus in the Morning has gone back to WQSC 1340 AM the Boardwalk from 6-10am, where it was for several years before Imus got fired.

1450 AM has gone to a simulcast of WTMZ 910 for now until they can find a new sports network (probably Sporting News) or a new format.

When I lived in Charleston WTMZ was beatiful music and Music of Your Life programming. They had listeners call in from Georgetown to the Beaufort even with the weak signal. You could hear them West from I-95/I-26 intersection to the Port City..They had decent ratings then....

WTMZ has been sports for several years now. Citadel sold them to Kirkman in 2004, and Kirkman moved their ESPN programming and "FanTalk" from 1340 to 910. It was right around when News Radio 730 went to 94.3. 1340 went to that talk format as "Real 1340".

910 also was sports mixed with hot talk in between the two standards stints. They had Fox Sports Radio almost from the beginning, and even carried Don and Mike.

Since WSPO changed to Fox, they have added a HD-2 signal, WIOP's HD-2 at 95.9. Their ID now includes the translator (W257BQ). Southern Sports Now has changed their name to the Jonas and Big Ben Show.

I know it's a few weeks behind, but 1450 has changed sports networks. They carry Czaban from 6-9am, then Dan Patrick 9-12. They air a regional show from Clemson's WCCP from 12-1, then simulcast 910 from 1-3, and air ESPN programming while 910 is airing FanTalk and Phil Kornblut.
