This goes back so long ago I am not sure it is even correct. Did these three appear at the same time on Cleveland radio? Was that on WKYC? What years and who else was on that staff?

Yes, briefly.

"Radio 11" WKYC's long-time morning show (back to the KYW days) was (Harry) Martin and (Specs) Howard. They left sometime in 1967, and C&H came in, staying for a good year and 1/2.

Big Jack Armstrong came over from WIXY just about January of '67 and stayed through almost that full year. Which was fortituous, because shortly--like weeks--after Jack left, WKYC blew out the staff and bowed "Power Radio" which was a pseudo-Drake format helmed by Hal Moore.

The 1967 WKYC Radio 11 staff would have included Martin & Howard/Charlie & Harrigan, Bob Cole, Chuck Dann, Jay Lawrence, Jim LaBarbara, and Big Jack. (LaBarbara moved to WIXY when Jack Armstrong left for WKYC.)

The 1968 Power Radio staff included C&H, Chuck Dunaway, Fred Winston, Buddy Henderson (later Ed Mitchell at CKLW and Mark Elliott at KHJ--now the voice of the Disney movie trailers), Bill Winters (later at CKLW), Bobby Shannon, Lee Baby Simms, and Bob Cole stayed for a few months after the transition.

Didn't the WKYC "Power Radio" format have to clear a LOT of NBC network stuff, including extensive coverage of both the Democratic & Republican conventions in '68? Also, I'm a little surprised that their morning team could use the Charlie and Harrigan name...That was the morning show for many years on KLIF in Dallas, with various people serving as Charlie or Harrigan, including Dallas radio legend Ron Chapman. I just figured Gordon Maclendon owned the rights to the C&H name.

All the WKYC formats had to clear alot of NBC network stuff. That was one of Jack Armstrong's biggest pet peeves--he was given a great chance on a 50kw clear channel Top 40 station to really break out...and the NBC suits strangled him with news and other fare.

It only got worse in 1968 because of the conventions. The last time around, 1964, Westinghouse owned 1100 and had spot reporters (Art Schreiber from KYW) at the conventions, but didn't have to carry the NBC feed.

The NBC network stuff also had an important Cleveland connection, as the afternoon daily network news feed was anchored from Cleveland with Virgil Dominic handling those duties, and in his absence, Tom Carson.

As for the Charlie & Harrigan name--Jack Woods (the Charlie, from KLIF and KILT) and Paul Menard (post-Chapman Harrigan) were coming from Houston to join WKYC. I guess that since McLendon didn't have any stations in Cleveland, it wasn't an issue. Or it was never brought up. Regardless, Charlie & Harrigan were from the McLendon stable and had a honed act.

That's what NBC money gets you!

Thanks for the exact info I was searching for. There was some major talent on that station during these couple of years.
