Charlie Mac & Bob Bell hit the Fan

Since it was first reported last week, I'd been waiting to hear Charlie MacAlexander and Bob Bell guesting together on the Fan, so I flipped back and forth to hear them yesterday afternoon. While their first time together again didn't go all smoothly, it was at least interesting and enjoyable. Couldn't help but wonder if the station would've had more of a fair hearing if they had gone with two guys like this from the beginning, two guys that at least had some following and respect among Nashville sports talk listeners, instead of two guys that had already alienated most of Nashville sports talk listeners. Alas, too litle too late...

You're still listening to that garbage can of a radio station? The Fan-less? I swear, if their transmitter were to shut off for 3 days, nobody at Cumulus would notice, because they don't even listen to it.

I call it a garbage can because it's filled with the sports that WTN realized it was too good for, and it has some scum (Blake & Joe) in there that has taken up residence, and no matter how hard you try, you can't get rid of it. So, the only thing to do is throw out the whole garbage can...which should happen in the first half of '06.

Please don't get me wrong. ONLY listening to hear the reunion of two old timers in local sports talk. And I was flipping back and forth, as I couldn't stand to hear the usual voices during commercial breaks. Like I said, too little, too late.

Do you suppose they're not already off the air because of terms in a one-year contract with ESPN? You'd think they could dissolve that by working out a 3-way settlement with Wabash and ABC.

Today (December 23rd) is the one year anniversary of the Fan. They went from having a station with few listeners to no listeners. Of course the changeover wasn't as bad as when The Party became Venus, but that's another post.
I hope the Fan changes to something in 2006, or today for that matter.
