Charlie was quoted in the story on Radio-Info last week. He knows about KYNO, anyway. It's a 3-hour version of his 5-hour syndicated morning show that he's customizing and localizing for Fresno from his home studio in L.A.

I hesitate to say anything here...'cause if I'm not 100% accurate, I'll hear from Michael Hagerty or Jim Hilliker! Top-40 KYNO was originally at 1300 AM. The format was news/talk when they moved to 940 AM in 2010. Then in 2012 they became an ESPN Radio affiliate and took the KFIG call letters from the station at 1430. That station then took the KYNO call letters. (KFIG was originally at 1310 and then 1340.)

KYNO is a bit slow in resurrecting the "Boss Radio" format, though. KHJA-102.1 FM in Madras, Oregon, has had such a format for several years, with the old jingles and some of the "boss jocks." And yes, the call letters are pronounced "K-H-J."

I would say -- that someone should tell Charlie Tuna -- that KYAF FM is airing tapes of him -- in a commercial way -- and that someone needs to sue Verne White and or Ray Knight and his son -- who claim to own KYAF. Ray Knight owns the building that houses the KYAF studio and runs a Real Estate Office in the same complex.

Just a slight correction regarding KFIG: The KFIG calls were originally on 94.5fm in Fresno in the mid/late-sixties. To resolve an interference problem in the downtown area, 94.5 was deleted in Fresno and KFIG moved to 101.1mHz in '70 or '71. The calls eventually went to 1430, the old KARM, and now to 940, the old KFRE.
KYNO calls went from the original 1300 to 940 and, now, to 1430.
