Charlie Tuna

Man, this guy has literally done it all. Glad to see he's able to make a living doing what he loves.

He's probably the hardest working dude in radio...His bio sure seems that way. ...BTW, If that headshot is current, for 66 he looks damn good.

Well, he's always had great toupees, but actually he still looks great because he works hard.

When I was a kid, my dad took me to KOMA in Moore. We watched through the door, and Tuna had a huge stack of index cards.

Almost everything he wanted to say about the records, items in the news, gags, one-liners -- all prepared in advance.

But the way Tuna delivered them, even at a young age in morning drive, you would swear he was adlibbing.

Later, at KHJ, stories abound about Morgan and Steele making fun of his index cards and even stealing them from him one day. But they soon grew to respect how hard Tuna worked to prepare.

And he takes care of his health. Sadly, Morgan and Steele did not.

Ronnie Kaye told me a few years ago, he visited with Tuna. Wait, maybe it was Rick Dees.

The memory is always the first to go.

Time waits for no man :)
