From the Dallas Morning News website:

Waters won't return to Cowboys' booth

Citing a crowded work schedule, Charlie Waters said Wednesday he won't return to the Cowboys' radio booth in 2007. Waters said he learned he could not devote the necessary time to prepare for his weekly game-analyst duties. The team hopes Waters will stay involved with its broadcasts as part of the pregame or postgame shows on the team's radio network.

How were the numbers this year on the Cowboys broadcasts on KDBN/KTCT, as opposed to last year's numbers on KLUV? I'm just curious if there was a major dropoff, due to the weaker signals?

It's an apples and oranges comparison. Arbitron offers a new audience measurement system specifically for play-by-play broadcasts. The Cowboys are subscribing to it. The numbers were WAY up in 2006, but I don't think anyone knows to what extent KLUV's broadcasts were underreported last year with only the diary numbers to go by.

In the new system, Arbitron calls listeners on the phone the day after each game instead of relying on diary turnaround.

"he could not devote the necessary time to prepare for his weekly game-analyst duties."

HA!!! Can one imagine what he might have sounded like this year WITHOUT all that preparation!!! HA!!!

Bring back Dale...please. Or Babe (which is what WILL happen.)

Oh come on... you know they are looking at a NEW SCHOOL booth now... so ladies and gentlemen, introducing the next team of Cowboy misfits to the booth with Brad "HOMER GREATNESS" Sham <<DRUMROLL>>

Nate Newton and Jay Novacek. ;D

could it be because he sounded like someone working a Friday night high school game between a couple of 2A teams out in west Texas??

Is Nate Newton out of jail?!

You may get Dale teaming with Brad next fall.

Only it might be Dale Hallestrae, the former Cowboy Deep Snapper..

Maybe Michael Irvin will join the team since he was let go by ESPN.

Oh for the love of God I sincerely hope not. Michael Irvin may be a hall of fame receiver but he SUCKS as a media personality. He doesn't know when to shut his yapper and all he did while he was at ESPN was interrupt everyone else so he could get himself back on camera. If they pair Brad Sham with him, Brad will never get a word in edgewise.

Personally, I think that Mr. Jones should hire me as color commentator for the Cowboys, but since that is not going to happen, I'm predicting that the job will go to one of two people:

Babe Laufenberg returns or

Emmitt Smith goes to the booth.
