Charlie's Angels Question

I've been enjoying the Charlie's Angels marathon on the I network last night and tonight and I have a couple of questions.

We all know why Farrah Fawcett left the show but here are the questions.

1. Why did Kate Jackson leave the show and was replaced by Shelley Hack?

2. Why did Shelley Hack leave the show and was replaced by Tonya Roberts?

Going from a very fuzzy memory, I THINK Kate was at the end of her contract and chose not to renew. Shelley Hack was chosen to replace her but wasnt deemed sexy enough and ratings fell. Tanya Roberts (who WAS much sexier, in my opinion), came on to replace Shelley in what turned out to be the final season.

The three original Angels (Farrah, Kate, and Jaclyn) reunited recently for a tribute to the late Aaron Spelling on the Emmy Awards. Kate looked damned good considering the health problems she's had in the past. Jaclyn has never NOT looked good. Farrah....well.....I loved Farrah as a 10 year old kid....but she hasnt aged very well.

The Angel Teams:

Farrah Fawcett-Majors (Jill Munroe)
Kate Jackson (Sabrina Duncan)
Jaclyn Smith (Kelly Garrett

Cheryl Ladd(Kris Munroe)
Kate
Jaclyn

Cheryl
Shelley Hack (Tiffany Welles)
Jaclyn

Cheryl
Tanya Roberts (Julie Rogers)
Jaclyn

Jaclyn Smith stayed for the entire run of the series as did David Doyle (John Bosley) and John Forsythe (as the voice of Charlie).

Some series tidbits from IMDB.com:

-The show "Vegas" (with Robert Urich) is considered a spinoff of the series as Urich's character, Dan Tanna, was introduced in a 2-part episode

-The absence of Jill Munroe (Farrah) in Season 2 was explained by having Jill becoming a pro racing driver in Europe

-When Kate Jackson left, the absence of Sabrina Duncan (her character) was explained as Sabrina getting married and starting a family

-Tiffany (Shelley Hack) left to move to the east coast

-The three original Angels were former members of the LAPD, Kris Munroe (Cheryl) worked for the SFPD, Tiffany Hill (Shelley) worked for the Boston PD, and Julie (Tanya) was a model.

Season 3 was the only season of the 5 to not have a major cast change

Also, during the last season, they moved Charlie's Angels to Sunday nights where it went opposite Archie Bunker's Place and One Day At A Time on CBS and CHiPS on NBC and that's when the bottom fell out of the show. I think that the show finished somewhere close to the bottom 10 for that season. Anybody know how it did the very last season?

I do admit that Shelley Hack was a little on the plain side in the fact that she played mostly what looked like the older sister to Jaclyn and Cheryl and looked older than both of them. Tonya Roberts was a whole lot better than Shelley but the damage had been done by then by moving the show to Sunday nights. Had the show possibly stayed on Wednesday nights,it would have probably lasted into the 1982-1983 season at best.

Again looking at IMDB.com, ratings arent shown but the number of episodes aired each season are.

In the final fifth season, the season premiere aired on November 30th 1980. That is the latest season premiere during the show's run as the previous four seasons all premiered in mid-September.

Two episodes aired on November 30th, 1980 (apparently a 2-parter); 2 episodes aired in December 1980 (7th and 14th); 4 aired in January 1981 (4th, 11th, 24th, 31st...apparently pre-empted on the 17th); 4 aired in February (7th, 14th, 21st, 28th); and then nothing until June (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th). I'm sure ratings weren't helped given that the show didn't air for 3 months (unless it did air but was in repeats). Perhaps ABC was premiering a new show??

Maybe you can figure out the days of the week using those dates. Any idea what replaced the show on Wednesday nights and what replaced it on Sat nights??
