CHarlotte could use another gospel radio station

With Praise 100.9 FM dominating gospel it is apparent that Charlotte could use aonther FM gospel station. We are now #25 and the dollars are definetly there. I am hearing lots of people liking the fact that CHarlotte has a good FM station but many feel the rotation is less than to be desired and people are not happy but content. WGIV 1370 has better rotation and format than Praise but WGIV is AM and the reception in some areas are not clear. I wonder if WGIV can go FM if there is any in CHarlotte?

Why divide the available audience?

It seems like some people will never be satisfied. Ever hear of an iPod?

One AM and one FM Gospel station sounds good to me.

Charlotte has one Smooth Jazz station and one Oldies station and they are on HD2.

Sorry, I'm feeling extra cranky today.

Remember, there is WRCM, "Life 91.9", but Charlotte can use a station that has
a "Southern Gospel" format on FM, and i understand "Joy FM" based in the
Winston-Salem area has some low-power translators around there.

Define "gospel." Praise and worship? AC? Southern Gospel? Inspo? Urban? Talk and teaching?

Charlotte has several fine Christian stations with good signals beaming into the metro. 91.9, 100.9, 106.9, are all high quality Christian stations. And there are the translators as well from JOY-FM and HIS Radio. BBN, though a bit dry, is a fun occasional flashback to 1975 Christian radio. And I love to hear the old sermons from the great preachers of the past!

Overall, I think Charlotte is fairly blessed with good Christian radio. I can think of things I'd like (big, professional sound SG FM, Big-signal Fish-type format) but compared to many markets, we're doing ok.

I can't see Charlotte supporting 2 urban-formatted gospel stations on FM. Praise is more commercial than 'GIV so their playlist and overall sound reflects it. WGIV has a better rotation, but if I remember correctly, they don't even show up in the ratings. I hope this doesn't cause me to go to hell but I'd like to see 'GIV flip to urban talk or a classsic soul/blues format.

Thanks for the information regarding other frequencies in Charlotte that broadcast
gospel programming.
I know there are so many today to choose from not only "over-the-air" but on the
internet, but if they can communicate the message thru music, that's OK, but i
agree when need to be taught god's word each day.

Nobody mentioned WHVN/WAVO/WCGC. Don't they play southern gospel when they play music?

Do they even show up in the ratings? I'm guessing Mix 106 is carrying them.

I would agree southern gospel needs to be heard in Charlotte. Where I live there are numerous stations playing it, although two of the clearest that there were have moved to Charlotte. One is now Praise 100.9. The other is that new Regional Mexican station which has no hope of competing with WNOW-FM.
