Charlotte Ratings Updated 03/25/26

For an eclectic music mix, K seems to have found a sweet spot that clearly works. Good for them. I find the station a bit dry from a talent and imaging perspective, but it doesn’t seem like Beasley is funneling money into many stations at this point.

I wonder what has made KKT and SOC suddenly switch places after SOC really reclaimed dominance in the country area… There was talent shuffling on KKT, but the music strategy doesn’t sound like it shifted.

Ah it’s updated now.

WLNK/WMXG up a tenth of a point to 1.2, beating Praise this time. Still not pretty.

Looks like WBT has settled back in to their general range in the mid-3’s.

The new morning show on 96.1 seems to have helped them get in the 3’s.

Looking at those numbers on the chart referenced, it looks like the move of WBT from 1110 to 107.9 is finally producing some improvements, compared to last fall. Maybe that is why this unending, perpetual musical interlude continues on 1110, in order to force more listeners to 107.9 and attract new listeners. Time will tell. Unfortunately the improvements with WBT come at the expense of Mix, which continues to decline from last year before the change to the weaker signals. But ironically the NPR talk radio on WFAE is leading ahead of WBT, which is perhaps more reflective of Charlotte/Mecklenburg becoming a more Democratic demographic, while the surrounding counties may be more conservative. So where is most of the purple audience going for news/talk, WFAE or WBT? Seems like WFAE may now be winning the news/talk battle these days.

Not sure what has allowed WOSF to surge ahead of WBAV with a similar urban/R&B format, but that has happened for a while now. And as noted, WKKT and WSOC have switched places in the country format. WNKS-95.1 maintains the lead over Hits 96.1 with CHR, but perhaps the return of Fred in the mornings will eventually produce future gains.

I just wonder - is R1 regretting its decision to move News-Talk to 107.9. The gain has been dismal as when it was on 1110/99.3, hasn't? ESPECIALLY, when you factor the loss Mix has realized by moving to two inferior signals.

Meanwhile, let's tune to 1110 right now for - as Monty Python said - something completely different.

It appears Praise has stayed about the same since moving off 100.9. In retrospect, I'd move Praise just as they did, leave 1110 WBT/99.3 alone but add 100.9.
