They are classified by Nielsen as a Charlotte Metro Survey Area station and are generally a Top 5 ratings performer (and sometimes #1) in their target demos of 25-49.WOSF gaining in the Urban format, impressive number one. But are they technically still a Gaffney station, although they moved to the WBTV tower closer to Charlotte?
They sort of squeezed themselves into Charlotte and the power reduction was required to operate at 1300 feet. They used to have a good signal in Greenville-Spartanburg, but now there is a local translator interfering in Greenville. And not sure why they had to reduce power after the move. Still get them in Spartanburg but not anymore in Greenville.
WOSF is a full Charlotte market signal. I never have an issue picking them up anywhere in the DMA.WOSF gaining in the Urban format, impressive number one. The Charlotte radio stations might not care about the Greenville/Spartanburg mkt. stations ratings &/or ad dollars-wise, but, there are many listeners in CLT that do care about the Greenville/Spartanburg mkt., as there are a variety of stations there that penetrate the CLT mkt. - specifically, 93.3/The Planet - WTPT. It offers an Active Rock format that no CLT station provides.WOSF is a full Charlotte market signal. I never have an issue picking them up anywhere in the DMA.
What they lost by the decrease in power, they made up by the increase in height. If I remember correctly, they were originally supposed to be at 100kw on the WBAV tower near the top of Crowders Mountain, but regulators shot that down. 51kw is still enough to penetrate buildings and other obstacles, and if we were up north would be above the max ERP.
Also, the Charlotte radio stations don’t care about Greenville Spartanburg.
It can’t be too many. I can’t ever remember a time when WTPT showed up in the Charlotte ratings, even going back to diary days. Near the bottom like always. Streetz is on 2 translators, and will never be competitive on such limited signals.Does anyone know Streetz 103.3 ratings for May? The Block is dead last, and wonder if Urban One plans to purchase a radio station if up for sale to put The Block on a better signal.
It’s only one month, and advertisers usually look at a 3 month average. If you average out the last 3 months, WBAV is stronger than WOSF in the demos, and that is the case 95% of the time. I personally prefer WBAV over WOSF as well.Pretty balanced Top 5 6+. R1 has to be very happy right about now with WOSF being on top. Good showing for Beasley, and IHeart. WKQC slowly trending down. Whats interesting about The Lake that stands out for me is they have the same exact playlist as 96.7 Steve FM in Columbia SC, and The Lake in Cleveland. I guess a national playlist must work really well for IHeart.
I can't, either, but that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of listeners to their Active Rock-programmed format - music that The Ride, The Fox & The End doesn't provideIt can’t be too many. I can’t ever remember a time when WTPT showed up in the Charlotte ratings, even going back to diary days.
Thanks. I was just curious on my end cause I read in the past on here Streetz ratings were higher then the block for some books when they were on 92.7,Near the bottom like always. Streetz is on 2 translators, and will never be competitive on such limited signals.
Urban One took the Block off of 92.7 which has a larger coverage area than the 102.5 translator because they weren’t making money. They have no intention of acquiring 103.3/100.5.
That’s true. There were times that Streetz got better ratings than The Block when they were on 92.7. The Breakfast Club helped, as did better programming from a music perspective. In my opinion, Streetz usually sounds the best musically out of the 3 urbans. Poor programming and a weak morning show (since Rickey Smiley moved to the adult side) have been The Block’s biggest issues.Thanks. No they don't. They seem to be doing well. The only problem is continuing to call it AC.WKQC’s music has been off since the start of the year. They need to do some research and refresh their playlist.
They’ve been trending down all year. If you take the Christmas books out, they’ve been trending down longer than that.No they don't. They seem to be doing well. The only problem is continuing to call it AC.
I didn't notice. I was remembering how they were doing earlier. They’ve been trending down all year. If you take the Christmas books out, they’ve been trending down longer than that.
At some point a change has to be made in the description.Nobody pays attention to how stations are classified format wise. At the end of the day it means nothing.
Well 105.3 used to be licensed to Gaffney which would have previously made it more of a Greenville-Spartanburg station, and then it was sold and transitioned to a Charlotte station. They used to have a signal reaching the Upstate as well as Charlotte before they moved to the WBTV tower. Now it is weaker past Spartanburg due to an interfering translator. But I am wondering what is now the actual city of license. It was a bit of a controversy back when Gaffney lost it popular hometown station.WOSF is a full Charlotte market signal. I never have an issue picking them up anywhere in the DMA.
