Charter Cable in West TN getting Antenna TV Starting July 13th

I got a letter in the mail today from Charter Cable outlining changes in the West TN channel lineup, which they occasionally do. The biggest news is that they are adding Antenna TV from WREG channel 3.3 in Memphis. I've wondered why WREG hasn't added their subchannels to Charter until now. WMC in Memphis has always added their subchannels almost immediately after they come on.

I've vented my frustration over how WBBJ in Jackson, TN has only carried Me-TV on a part time basis on their CBS subchannel until now but this is the next best news toward getting the retro channels in the Jackson area. I still hope that WBBJ will eventually get Me-TV full time, but It still doesn't look like it will happen any time soon.

I'm betting WREG's retransmission contract expired (and was renegotiated) recently.

Must-carry rules don't apply to subchannels, so the only way they get on most cable systems is as part of retransmission compensation for the main channel. ("you can carry WREG CBS 3.1 as long as you agree to carry WREG Antenna 3.3") I might guess that WMC timed their subchannels to premiere just after signing their retrans agreement...

I think Antenna is better than Me-TV in the afternoons. Antenna has retro while Me goes the
westerns route. Antenna has a good retro night on Fridays also.......and decent Sat/Sun
afternoons too.

Charter is adding This TV from WTVF 5.3 subchannel on digital cable channel 174 in McKenzie, Paris and Lexington. No Antenna TV, though.

In Jackson This TV comes in from WMC 5.3 in Memphis, along with Bounce on 5.2. I wish that Charter would make a deal with WLMT 30 in Memphis to get ME TV from them since WBBJ is doing such a sorry job with it.

There was a post in the past couple of weeks (Possibly from Mr. X?) about WBBJ 7.3 having a full Saturday afternoon of ME TV. That happened again this past Saturday and Sunday afternoon until 3:00, because there were no sports programs on CBS. That definitely was better than WREG's full afternoon of infomercials.  :p  ::)

Something else I've noticed is that on Sunday mornings 7.3 is filled with infomercials except for when Sunday Morning and Face the Nation are on. That's totally ridiculous to me.  ???

Antenna TV came on this morning, a few days earlier than expected. I have to work late tonight, but I'll definitely be checking it out! :)

It turned out that Antenna TV was on and off of Charter for the first week. It wasn't on permanently until last Wednesday. In looking at the schedule the only programming I'll be watching regularly is WKRP on Sunday nights and Barney Miller once it's on this Fall. Otherwise most of their schedule is full of shows I might watch when nothing else I want to see is on.

I still wish WBBJ would make Me-TV a full time channel, but from what I've seen posted on the Facebook page of the group pushing for it WBBJ is saying they want to do it eventually but "Not in the near future." (Probably more like never. )

I found out this weekend is another one that since CBS has no sports WBBJ will actually show ME TV on 7.3 on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Today was mostly westerns and tomorrow will be mostly sitcoms. And once again WREG is loading both afternoons with infomercials.  :p
