Charts/List

Where can I look at chart information? Most formats have them but Dance does not seem to have a R&R chart do they? I saw Billboard. Was wondering where people get their chart info on who is hot and who is not?

I usually get a lot of my hot/not info from the informed folks here at Radio-Info. :)

I get some info from this new FMQB page that is devoted to dance music:

http://www.fmqbproductions.com/dance/

And then in terms of charts, the Billboard Dance Radio Airplay chart. A "free version" with just a few positions is made available on their website every week. And major highlights are posted on the Billboard Radio Monitor page:

And for club play, there's the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart. A "free version" is also on their site too.
______________

Looking at the FMQB page, it's worrying to see yet again KTU doesn't have any adds this week. I think dance records tend to burn out pretty quickly like CHR so new adds are essential for the format. Maybe we should give up calling KTU dance and accept it's more Rhythmic AC like the old Star 93.7 in Boston.
______________

I often tend to defend KTU when people bash it, but in this case I think what Mattii said is fair.
KTU really is much more of a Rhythmic AC these days. The most played songs get a little over 25 plays!!! There are many Hot AC stations that give their powers 40-60 spins if not much. Have you ever seen a Top 40 or CHR/Rhythmic stations giving so few spins to their most played songs??!!
It's not like KTU is some underground Dance station full of specialist Dance shows. Nope, it's a very mainstream station. Actually Dance-wise it leans Adult, and won't even play a lot of big Dance hits if they're seen as too full-on for the over 35-54 demo (KTU actually played "Sandstorm" by Darude a lot less then rival Z-100, and that's just one example).

So let's see: it's not all Dance, it plays much more Gold and Recurrent in a typical hour when compared to any CHR, new music gets limited amount of airplay, new Dance music doesn't get added often, etc.

Yup, sure seems like Rhythmic AC is a good definition.

R&R needs to have a dance panel as well as All Access.com.
______________

There are charts for all formats. You just have to know what you want. Euro chart, US only chart, Global chart. As for hot and not - that's relative. If you watch MTV - they tell you what you are suppose to think is hot. Is it??.. probably not. We're all sheep!

I agree! I'd love to see R&R add a dance panel or subchart. Right now they put KTU and Sirius's "the Beat" in with their CHR/Rhythmic reporters which are all hip hop stations. Those are the only 2 that are dance focused and it makes zero sense to have them there. They should add "BPM" from XM, along with "Energy 92.7" San Francisco, "Energy Arizona", and the other HD dance outlets and college dance outlets and create a "dance hits" chart seperate from the CHR/Rhythmic chart. At least we could then see what is being played at the few dance outlets in the U.S. Currently, as it is, putting "the Beat" and "KTU" on the CHR/Rhythmic chart serves no purpose whatsoever.
