Chase Daniels Joins Star 94

All Access is reporting that Chase Daniels, who did afternoons on WAPE-FM in Jacksonville, is headed to Star 94, but they don't say what she'll do at Star.

I'm sure that's her real name. It's in the Jennifer Steele category of radio names.

an educated guess on what will happen:

sources tell me Star let go of their traffic reporter that did AM and PM drive time reports today.

my guess: a part-time staff member on C&R will do AM traffic while it is announced that Chase Daniels will start afternoons in early August. it's been about 6 months since Seacrest has been on the air and they'll probably nix it. i'm guessing they want a live jock. obviously, it wouldn't make sense for Chase to come all the way from Jacksonville for a JUST a traffic reporter position. another option: their APD/MD will move on and Chase Daniels will do PM drive +APD/MD duties to save some $

thoughts?

that's a thoughtful analysis. but shannon holly moved all the way from Florida for a traffic position at star. Of course, that didn't work out so well. i can see the cost-saving side of having the p.m. jock take on md/apd duties, since their current md/apd isn't on the air. it'll be interesting to see what they do with seacrest. they seem to enjoy a good relationship with him, but i guess all of those negotiations go through the company that handles his syndication (CC?), so maybe it won't impact that at all.

I'm hoping they put him in afternoon drive to replace Seacrest. Why else would they have brought him in?

I'm guessing Michael Chase will remain as APD/MD. He has a reputation for being great at formatics and being the person JR Ammons relies on for the right processing.

Perhaps he will do morning and afternoon traffic. Dave has one in the morning and one in the afternoon but not sure what other duties they carry. Chase could be used as an additional morning mic on C n R like other traffic reorters have done and then just do quick traffic spots in the afternoon like a Crash Clark was.

That's certainly possible. But is that something you leave PM drive on the top CHR in Jacksonville for?

My guess is programming would be involved. WAPE in Jax has always had a somewhat similar sound to Star 94. Both stations have always seemed to lean away from the more rhythmic/hip-hop CHR sound. Maybe Star figures they can consolidate programming and a prime talent slot with one person.

One never know but if his real goal is morning drive this might offer a better shot by being a third or fourth mic on a potentially top morning show in a top 10 market than afternoon drive in the 46th market.

AC is gone? I hate to hear that.

Yes, he is...and I hate it too. He's actually good friend of mine. He certainly deserves better. With his talent and drive, he'll land a gig soon.

No, no, no. WAPE has always been adult friendly, not adult leaning. With all due respect, WAPE is a lot more of a true sounding CHR/Pop than either Star 94 and Q-100.
