Chaz & AJ on 102.9 DRC observation

I was listening to 102.1 this morning and when they went to a commercial I pushed the seek button on my car radio and it stopped on 102.9 DRC, which carries The Chaz and AJ Show from sister station 99.1 WPLR. Anyway I listened for almost 5 minutes and there was some kind of noise in the background. Not sure how to describe it, but I checked the feed on 99.1 and it wasn't there. There's definitely a problem somewhere between the Chaz & AJ's studio in Milford and DRC's transmitter or studio or whatever.

Well Marc,

If you hear it again, you should call the Chief Engineer @DRC on (860) 243-1115 or @PLR on (203) 783-8200.

I once heard a buzz on 104.1WBCN/Boston & the CE told me it was a piece of switchgear @the xmtr site.

Thanks for the info. BTW it was happening again this evening. I was at a friend's house. He always listens to that station (I don't know why) and I heard the noise. It's like a high-pitched whistling sound. After I told my friend I heard the noise during The Chaz & AJ show on Tuesday he said "Thanks, at least I know there's nothing wrong with my radio." - Apparently this whistling sound has been happening on a regular basis for a little bit now. My friend didn't remember when he first noticed it, but I was at the same friend's house for a Labor Day Party on August 31st and the sound definitely was not there.

An even better solution is to not listen to "WPLR North" at all. I stopped listening to WDRC-FM once the changes were made and people were fired.

I don't listen unless I'm a hostage listener. And the only reason I listened on Tuesday, which was by choice I was trying to figure out what the heck that whistling sound was.

Forget for a second that they trashed a once great radio station. Forget for a second that all the DJs are voice-tracked. Forget for a second the technical problems. The station presentation as a whole is really cheesy.

While being a hostage listener at my friend's house last evening I heard a promo for The Chaz & AJ Halloween thing in Wallingford. It listed Ridiculous things you can do on Halloween instead of going to the Chaz & AJ Halloween thing such as creeping out your neighbors by dressing up as Elsa from Frozen. Then there was a promo for their daily $500 give-away talking about other ways people try to make $500 - donating blood and plasma, being too old to run a lemon aid stand, no one wanting to buy your 1985 Baseball Card Collection. Then they called it CASH-TOBER. And another VO Guy was like "Cash-tober? Really? Was Rock-tober already taken?"

If I win the Powerball I'm giving Connoisseur $10 Million to go back to Milford and stay there. And I'll bring back The WDRC we all knew and loved.
