CHEAP CHANNEL HV- THE RATS ARE JUMPING...

I was listening to WRWD this morning; new mid-day gal, Krista Jones, says she's the new gal in town; Paty Quyn is moving to green pastures. Wonder where Paty is going or if she was let go. She was a staple at wrwd and enjoyable to listen to. Could be part of the mass exodus in the cheap channel mess.

In the immortal words of cheap channel Head Lowry Mays: " we are not in the business of entertaining people, we are in the business of making money".Schmuck.

anyone have any info, dirt, gossip from tucker dr???

Tucker drive is over haul mode. Lots of changes. I hear that the GM is out GSM is out and more changes to come. Also heard that a couple of BIG morning guys are this close to sayin goodbye as well.

The only BIG morning show guy that comes to mind is the guy on WRWD. I don't spend much time listening to CC stations to know who is who... do you have any names?

I guess my best hope is "The Wolf" on 94.3 and 97.3 is much better than WRWD. Clear Channel has some change during the day. I always listened to "The Wolf" WKXP/WZAD which is a better country station than WRWD. Maybe someday if WRWD flips or maybe some airstaff letting it go, "The Wolf" will bring in some listeners from WRWD and it will boost in the ratings. Maybe Benfer will be thinking about it.

Huh?

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but WRWD is a much more established and respected station. The Wolf is all over the place musically. WRWD actually knows how to program a country station while Wolf over at 94.3 and 97.3 doesn't know a damn thing about country radio.

Hee haw!

I know that. Hudson Valley still has four country stations that are still hurting them. WRWD did well when Krista Jones took over Paty Quyn in middays and "The Wolf" still has Buzz Stevens and Beth Christy (formerly of WCZX's "Oldies 97.7"). I'm not really sure if "The Wolf" should die a burning death or not. I hope these stations will win. The country wars is still going on in the Hudson Valley.

The other two big morning guys that have been in the Hudson Valley for years are Mark Bolger and Joe Daily.

I forgot about these 2...

CC's morning jocks really aren't much to write home about.

Crikey -- another "Joe Daily?" How many local DJs changed use that name now?

Sounds like CC is going to run tucker dr with very few human bodies, Think paty Left in a hurry and I though I heard krista doing a shift on another cc station. If they show Walker the door u will be stuck with 2 less than mediocre clowns and whoever else they can scrape up.

Disney, your posts hurt my head...now hear this...the woof is a sorry *ss excuse for a country station; their ratings are stuck to the bottom of the dumpster. They are going nowhere, and on simulcast. Nobody on pendell road has a clue as to how to run anything except failure. And no, WRWD isn't going oldies.

more dirt from tucker drive would be appreciated

As people have been saying Cheap Channel is going to run these stations at a minimal cost until they are sold. The good news is that they had set a date in late February ,as the deadline for all bids ,for all the stations across the country being sold. So I assume whoever is interested in buying these stations has put in bids. The question is will they buy the whole cluster or will it be broken up, and what will happen to the new Tucker Drive facility. It probably will take some time for CC to review all the bids and decide which are the most advantageous to them. No names can be made public until then. So while, there is light at the end of the tunnel, until then fans of these stations will have to suffer with deteriorating sub -par radio, and speculate what the new owner(s) will do with the formats. One Station I don't expect to change ,WRWD will stay a successful country station. Unfortunately I don’t expect the deal to be finalized until the end of the year.

Joe Daily used to be the host of "The Breakfast Club" on all stations WKIP, WHUC, WELV and WCKL where he used to play standards. He was on Lite-FM at 92.1 and 99.3 for a couple of years and then ended up at WCZR where he is doing mornings on "Cruisin' 93.5".

According to Scott Fybush's Northeast Radio Watch on 03/05/07 she's headed to Indianapolis ,a bigger market, thus greener pastures is true this time

Well, anyway, Kudos and good luck to Paty; she sure was a hard worker, with all the voice overs and extra work she did for cheap channel. Hope she got out of there before it got ugly, and I'm sure the ugliness is just beginning...

More dirt, if u please ;D

Someone earlier wrote that the GM and Sales Manager have left CC-HV recently. Can anyone name names...of these and of any of the other on-air or sales office staffers who are no longer there? I am actually an advertiser, and can't understand why I am getting no replies to the emails, questions, regular mail, etc I have sent to CC in recent weeks!

This is the second time you've asked for "more dirt". You seem to relish wallowing in other people's difficult situations. People that live and work in the community are part of these broadcast groups and are the machinery that make it go everyday--not the corporate wonks. They are sure not to blame for their company's sell-off, so maybe you could show a little compassion to all involved when you're posting. Rub your hands like an evil scintist in private.

Not everybody at a radio group gets or wants a bigger market gig--they like it here and want to continue here, so how about a little dignity for the people doing the best they can day-to-day.

Mr. No-
make no mistake about it, i take no pride in watching folks go thru the crap thats going on at Cheap channel. Tough losing your job, and it's tough watching all your hard work go up in smoke, Been there, done that. With that said, when I asked for more dirt, i was wondering if there's any more gossip, inside info, or rumors. Thought thats what this board was for, and opinion also. My hope is that when the smoke clears that there will be some more independant ownership, and some good opportunities to get radio back where it belongs..live and local. Those of us who are broadcast professionals and have worked in the business have been thru it all, good and bad.

Hopefully you will have something pertinent to add sometime.

Got to get back to work,, got a fresh batch of gruel boiling in my downstairs lab (wringing hands like a mad scientist)
