Yesterday, saturday, I was listening to WRWD, which was on automation; they broadcast the Weather for thanksgiving and black friday. Nice.

Also, on so called Cool 92.9, their canned news report has a intro liner thats louder than the newscaster, making that inaudible...smooth.

Finally, on both WRWD and 92.9, the transition from live to automation at 7 never works right- it either has the live feed overlapping with the sat feed, or dead air..sounds like a train wreck...hello...no body home???

The point of all my mindless drivel is- hopefully whoever takes these stations over will see to it that this is fixed and the transitions are seamless. These may be moot points but to us radio geeks they sound like garbage,and it all comes to the lack of live bodies in the station watching the store. You still need humans...
Also you need new talent in the business and give them a chance to get a start... :)

920 AM WGHQ does the same thing, although more often because the station seems to be on automation 24/7. Hopefully the people/companies that take these CC stations over can turn them around.
 
I hope that these stations end up in the hands of local owners/operators. I heard that the owner of WDST is interested in a couple of CC signals. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

2 things I'd like to see:
1) WRWD drop the NASCAR coverage
2) A 'Jack FM' type of format

Anyone else have a wish list for the Cheap Channel fire sale?? Rumors, innuendo, trash,, anything???

I was by the CC compound yesterday, they are still working on the addition to the building. Thought it might go on hold after they dropped the bomb about selling off the stations. Wonder what the addition is for...more studios, bigger commisary, cafeteria with free lunches??? ???
