check out my rack!

Come on now, you can't put "Check out my rack" and have a man's name in the title of a thread! It's immoral ... it's outrageous ... it had me rolling on the floor!

I never thought I would ever see a thread here with that title :D

By the way, nice rack, Steve

Sounds great Steve....very entertaining Oldies station.

Just curious, how do you stream - Shoutcast? With Live365, they take care of the music royalty people. How does this work in your case?

...the DJ I hear that's YOU? You're voicetracking, I assume? Why kind of a software program to you use to do that?

TOO COOL............Just the words every high school boy dreams of hearing on any given Saturday night ;)

The sad thing is, I truly didn't think about breasts when I read the thread title. I've been behind a microphone for too long. ;D

I stream it thru 11 software.
It isn't voicetrackedit's just tracked..I occasionally update the tracks but I've recorded hundreds that rotate...it is actually on the air in North Dallas over a Rangemaster 1000 low power transmitter...sounds great with this Optimod now! By the way, the Inovonics 235 I was using is for sale on ebay. It did a great job too.
The software is 11 software's "Jockey Pro". You can do "real" voicetracking too...It's cheap but doesn't sound that way.

Steve, your station is AWESOME. The studio is beautiful, but I was very much impressed with your automation, sounders, and old commercials.
What a wonderful job.
WOW.

That is a very impressive sounding station. I do wish I could hear it on air, as I bemoan 24kpbs.

How difficult or expen$ive are custom sung sounders?

I like your rotation and estimate you are 10 years older than I.

Since August I have been collecting my favorite music and radio bits from 1925 to present, and at 24 hours I am maybe 4-5 % done.

Most of my music is on the harder edge, with the few mellower songs I favor.
On the other hand, I have Larry Harmon as Bozo the clown, singing "Wowee! (it's a purty day)" and " I like to like people".
My format is supposed to twist one's head around until it's 'bout to snap off. Dificult listening, as college stations do it, but made of
stuff from a wide range of artists, b-side and obscure heavy. Still have some of the big hits, if they wear well.

You're far along and sound much better as a station. Mine is by comparison a glorified ipod with radio bits.

Mine also is lucky to go 200 feet, due to the dense brick/steel neighborhood.

remember that I am trying to emulate the orignial sound of Top 40, so the audio is from an AM wideband reciever

several done at TM in Dallas, most from Ben Freedman. He's also in Dallas and way more affordable than you can imagine! I used all the KenR stuff he sold to mix and match

As much as I hate to admit it, I turned 50 recently!

that sounds interesting...

I have a sweeper that says "..songs that don't 'test well'..and that truly says it all. I play the hits, but a lot of other stuff too!

buy a Rangemaster 1000 and you will get at least a couple of miles, maybe more, depending on the situation...it's not cheap nor does it sound that way. If you are serious this is the one and only one to buy... and no, Keith didn't pay me to say that (although he should - I've recommended it at every chance!!

Steve,
Very cool! Sounds great. Where & how do you get your TOH news from? Just curious.

Dave

this is all feeding into the Rangemaster 1000...sounds awesome!

I posted a podcast and intend to update often, from my part 15.
There is much to apologize for, I will not here... there is a disclaimer on the podcast site,
amd if I am lucky, a picture of the pt 15 xmittr about 3 yrs ago, hasn't changed much.

I can't imagine what bandwidth and streaming costs at 128 k. but I wouldn't bother for less.
This was recorded to a CD audio recorder from a 1980 Sony AM/FM "fidelity sound" table radio w/bass/treble flat.
I could have connected a line out, but made this with condenser mic.
I am having fun trying to make an auto-ma-tation system sound like live-cued music.
I can't wait to see what bitrate this is and if it sounds like it does on our wideband AM radios here at home.

update 5 miutes later...
Now streaming to my own laptop, there's some swishiness at 128, but it sounds pretty much like an AM radio. I'm 80% happy with the audio
results from the digtizing.

Another CD's worth complete with noises from rain-induced weird grounding.
Levels are still too hot at the recorder. Don't know what happened to the sound after I went to bed, but something did.

The ATU in the foreground of the picture is an old Duck Co tapped L, and the cap is an Atwater Kent TRF job .
Now there is a picture of me, sitting in this tiny deep u-shaped studio/accident.
Board? There's no board. Everything is on seperate controls .
