Checking In.

OK so I'm still unemployed, but still not sour on radio just yet. Next week, I'll be dropping off packages all around Indy.

My question: What is the preferred method of delivering airchecks to PDs these days?

I have MP3's posted online. As I put my package together, should I also make 2 discs? One an MP3 disc, the other an old fashioned "cd".

Full disclosure: I already flipped a coin on this question and am going the CD audio route. I am curious as to what you guys think though. I can alter my plans this weekend, if need be.

Thanks for your help.

Cincinnati's Booneville WREW and WUBE had PT openings, there still posted but the close date was 4 weeks ago, wonder if they filled them but if they have them maybe you don't want to move ?

I didn't like to see WKLU with this non local program from CA, something you expect from a small market station.

I'm wondering if I should see if I can find a way to change WMQX to 96.5, WBWB to 96.5, and change WAZY to 96.7 to see if I can move it near Lebanon. If I can find something I will send it Randy's way...

If Randy M could just find a way to restructure his radio brand faster so we could see him burn holes into the other stations around the nation.

If wazy moved closer to Indy they would have to lower to a class A........ Id like to see Wbwb 96.7 upgrade to 6 or 8kw so its just a bit clearer here in morgan county. Is their anyway to upgrade Wcbk and make it 25kw directional north, and move the new castle station to 102.7....... Hmmm

Maybe not to a class A but maybe to a B1, if I could find a way to change WAZY to 96.7, if I change WBWB to 96.5, and WMQX.

I don't think WMDH could change to 102.7, think it's to close to Randy's old station WEBN, WCBK maybe it could upgrade but to close to WMDH...

Holy cow, everything BUT an answer to Tom's question!

I'm no expert, but it sure seems to me that an audio CD is playable on anything that accepts a disc, and is therefore the safest route.

The PD/AM DR guy at "The Walk" WHZN 88.3FM who came from Cincinnati to launch this station last summer left, to take a job back in Cincy. There might be something open there.

Wondered about that. He moved back to Indy to be close to home then left. They like us have a lot of volunteers and computers.

i don't want to discourage you, but, you will be out of work a long time in this economy, better have a plan "B". if you really Love-It...don't give up!

Why do people start sentences with "I don't want to discourage you" and the proceed to attempt to do just that? Just wondering. I think we should praise the level of passion Tom has for the business and cheer him on to great success. If you don't have something positive to say, just this once let's not say it. (No offense, CSpot - I'm not intending to call you out, you were just the most recent example.)

The good news is that I know Tom and it may actually be impossible to discourage him. As for not finding a job, I disagree... there are openings here and there for people who love radio enough to work for what they're paying and Tom is just the gentleman for that! (Truly meant as a compliment no matter how it came out!)

And Tommy, with the number of people you know around these parts, you should start leveraging those contacts! Start with your most recent employer - he has three in FW and while it's sort of gray up there, it's not too bad and it's cheap to live.

Good luck, sir.

I knew about one of those openings and applied to be a part of the morning show on US 93.3.

I appreciate the support. I did go on a tape and resume tour of Indy a few weeks ago, dropping off packages all over town.

Ya know, it's funny.

On the same day I was asked to host the night show on WKLU, I was offered the job of door host at Dave and Busters (12 bucks an hours!) I didn't even have to flip a coin on that one.

I am looking at alternatives though, GI Bill college and such. Gotta pay the bills, ya know.

I'll keep y'all posted.
