Chestnuts Roasting A Week Before Thanksgiving

I notice Hubbard has tightened the Xmas playlist. Both Gloria Estefan and Kenny Loggins' versions of "The Christmas Song" have all been absent, which were common in 2012/13/14. Also haven't seen any Babyface Xmas songs - they did air Winter Wonderland and Sleigh Ride in the past.
KARY 100.9 Yakima flipped Thanksgiving to Xmas.

Could be part of a strategy. Christmas music is more than just unloading a single, entire playlist at one time.

Yes they are, had KXXO on last night. The issue I have with that is they don't say anything on the air about it. KAFE at least acknowledges that it's a "holiday shopping weekend." I would assume KAFE started it at midnight.

Can't please everyone.

The one thing I give Mixx 96 is they are live and local a pretty good chunk of the day. Even in the overnights, somebody actually programs the music on the station rather than going to the bird like many small and mid-market full-service AC stations.

That "pretty good chunk of the day" is 6am-9am and 3pm-6pm weekdays, and 10am-3pm weekends. The rest is tracked. As for "programming the music" - it takes zero effort to do that with today's automation software.

They also are far more open than iHeart, Entercom, Mother Hubbard, etc. in giving people without big market experience weekend air shifts to get their feet wet...

I don't know about that - I've heard some people on the "big stations" that also sounded like they just started in radio. That's what you get for $10 an hour.

CIOC-98.5 just flipped today to All-Christmas Music. Now, you can hear TWO Xmas stations swapping along I-5 on 98.5. CIOC, and "North Pole Radio" KNBQ.
Also saw KIXI on the Stationintel list...interesting. The playlist only shows them sprinkling 3 or 4 Christmas songs an hour before doing their 88 Hours of Christmas right before the holiday. A LOT more than KRWM's "36 Hours of Christmas" which airs noon Xmas Eve-midnight 12/26 commercial free.

Who on this board cares?

What threads? You mean posts for every market listed on this web site where folks are discussing who went Christmas music first? Duh!
