KZON/CBS blame "budget cuts" again as they fire Middayer/Jackie Morales, probably the best DJ they had.

No word on a replacement but they did hire a new sidekick for mornings. I wonder how that saved money? Talk about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Will this help inside CBS/KOOL/KMLE as they wonder why their staffs keeps getting fired in order to prop up the 3rd place Top 40 station? I shudder to think of the good people they could have retained if KZON wasn't such a drain on revenue and resources.

To recap, in the past year KZON has fired the PD, Night DJ, Morning Show, Midday DJ, and the only person hired was 50 year old Supersnake. Is it any wonder why this place under performs so badly?

Kiss continues to win. I guess that's why you make changes...keep trying. Kiss is the dominate 18-34.

Unless I'm reading Arbitron wrong, in the Summer book the young adult demo you mentioned looked like this...

KUPD
KKFR
KZZP

KZZP does well, but I wouldn't call 3rd "dominate" especially when it is also behind one of your main competitors.

KZON is not in the Top 5. I agree you need to make changes when you are getting your butt kicked, but does anyone think they've made it better? Maybe it's a tax right off.

kkfr? not quite the player in the format that kiss is. kiss is huge in money dayparts. also- ppm (april) will destroy kkfr 2 ways. 1- the more hip hop your are the more you lose. ask kpwr in LA. 2- every weak signal station in the ppm markets has been destroyed.

jamz would be wise to focus on kiss (they sound more like them). wider the playlist the more you win in ppm.

KISS's demo is actually women 18-34. In this demo they are as dominant as KUPD is with Men 18-34. KKFR is kind of caught in the middle.

Kiss has a narrow lead over 2nd place Power W18-34. Power is also 2nd to KUPD M18-34. How is that a bad thing again?

Power is fragged by KXOL, who took a huge number of the Hispanic core.

And little KRCD/V in LA? KBOC in Dallas? KTJM in Houston?

wider the playlist the more you win in ppm.

Depends on the demo. In many cases, tightening works in one demo, while broadening seldom works.

Kzon(jamz) is the loser among kisss power and jamz.Serves them right to many changes for on air confuses the listener. The clock is ticking

It seems the KZON apologists think ppm will solve the fact that their station is irrelevant and unnecesary.

Trend out today.

Been reading these boards for years...i finally found something David E. is wrong about (David...this is a compliment)

The more broad you are in ppm the more you win. look it up. the winners in philly, houston, chicago, LA are all 'broad'.

chr works cuz it's broad. ask wgci, Power 106, hot 97 about 'tight/narrow'. the kisses/mixes/classic hits all win.

If you mean "broad" as not restricting a station to one genre, that's correct and is what distinguishes some of the winning stations. But the AC's, the country stations (Dallas, for example) are not broad, but they work too.

Just like the diary, you can win by balancing cume and TSL, low cume and high TSL and Low TSL and high Cume. KIIS and WHTZ are low TSL huge cumers. KRTH and WCBS FM are balance stations. KODA and The Box and WOJO are high TSL staitons.

The difference is that 15 minutes is a big TSL difference in the PPM, while it took and hour or more difference to be noticed in the diary. On the other hand, half the PPM cume is useless, unlike diary cume that generally all contributed something.

Power 106 was off pre-PPM due to KXOL and fragmentation of the 60% of the cume that was Hispanic... and, the Urbans and Urban A/C's in NY look pretty good now. Power and Hot are #1 and #2 18-34, with WBLS at 6th. And they are all averaging top 10 25-54, too.

There is too much analysis of the mechanics of PPM and not enough of the fact that good stations that flow and don't fatigue win, and clunky ones don't. It helps to have a signal, too... ask The Pulse in NY.

What the **** are you talking about? Broad is not the issue here, Dude. I'm talking about drawing a line in the sand, Dude. Across this line, you DO NOT... Also, Dude, broad is not the preferred nomenclature. Female-American, please.

Maybe in the world of hip replacements and retirement planning. Hiphop radio, not so much.

Cool! Who are the top hip-hop PD's is the country that are 25? Any in Top 25 markets?

Funny you chose to only share the top 4, is that because KZON is #5

By the way, if #5 is irrelevant and unecessary, you should know KKFR finished #4 for the month of October with persons 18-34

Ahh yes, the sign of the desperate. Quoting monthly extrapolations. Good luck with that.
