Just in case anyone is wondering the post courtsey of DeeWayne Weaver are being produced by Bruce St. James. The Guy who in the past year or so has Fired the Edge Morning Host, it's 2 Co-Host, it's Producer, Half of Power's Morning Show and from what is floating around his Power night host and mid-day host. So I would not say Power is safely out of range of the almighty ax swing!

KZON/CBS blame "budget cuts" again as they fire Middayer/Jackie Morales, probably the best DJ they had.

No word on a replacement but they did hire a new sidekick for mornings. I wonder how that saved money? Talk about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Will this help inside CBS/KOOL/KMLE as they wonder why their staffs keeps getting fired in order to prop up the 3rd place Top 40 station? I shudder to think of the good people they could have retained if KZON wasn't such a drain on revenue and resources.

To recap, in the past year KZON has fired the PD, Night DJ, Morning Show, Midday DJ, and the only person hired was 50 year old Supersnake. Is it any wonder why this place under performs so badly?

Well, this is not good because now that I'm becoming tired of hip hop, the staff was mostly what I liked. Kid & Ruben were the best. I liked Nessa.. but if they continue getting rid of the staff, then...
I was already upset enough with the removal of the mixshows. The on-air people and many of the dj's are really cool, but if they disappear, I probably would not care for 101.5 JamZ anymore unless the new staff REALLY proves themselves and turns out to be MUCH more outstanding than everyone they could've had all together if they kept people. If KZON gets rid of their mixshow dj's, that would be sad.

In other words, on-air people who sound good or interesting on the radio and make it fun helps big time. If it sounds dead or dull, then the music or mixshows better sound incredibly good. However, just because someone sucks on on station/format, doesn't mean they wont sound good on another, so I'm not trying to say I want people to lose their jobs or quit their career.
Also, one of my biggest dislikes on radio are dj's who can't at least keep the majority of the songs in a set on beat while blending songs on a regular bases. It's worse when good dj's leave or get fired, then are replaced with bad ones who continue to sound bad even after a reasonable amount of time passes. There are good days and bad days, but if the bad days seem to out number the good days when it comes to mixing skills, it's not good - but that's just my opinion as a dj. Most may not care or notice.

The best DJ they have is still on the air...7p to midnight...

Unless I'm reading Arbitron wrong, in the Summer book the young adult demo you mentioned looked like this...

KUPD
KKFR
KZZP

KZZP does well, but I wouldn't call 3rd "dominate" especially when it is also behind one of your main competitors.

KZON is not in the Top 5. I agree you need to make changes when you are getting your butt kicked, but does anyone think they've made it better? Maybe it's a tax right off.

FYI...most companies, new stations, new anything really...goes through growing pains....keyword being GROWING...that station is great...the people who work there are great and thoroughly dedicated to the station and its success...they are not haters like apparently [EDIT]

I am aware too that the postings of DeeWayne Weaver are actually Bruce St. James. All he is doing is making himself look bad and make it obvious that he is envious of KZON and it is his mission to destroy this station...which of course he will not do, but keep trying Bruce!!! ;) 8)

What success??? Jamz is a power and kiss wannabe.Kzon is such a wasted frequency at the present time.Whatever suit decided to flip kzon to rhythmic should be fired and banned from radio!!!

Of course you use a 4 book since you are trending down book to book. KZON peaked (pardon the pun) in Spring of 2008 and went down from there in rank and share. Stations are supposed to debut big as they capitalize on new cume and curiosity TSL. The problem is when they slip back like KZON has after the audience has checked them out and voted for KZZP or KKFR as a better choice.

The better question is what other 100,000 watt station is losing to a 41,000 watt direct competitor by 2 shares in the last book?

I predict you will once again ignore the facts and attack the messenger, just as the zonies have done on every previuos post that points out their considerable failings.

In other words, JamZ plays mainly hip hop (or hip hop influenced) hits along with a few other hits. Seemingly in between an urban/hip hop and top 40 sound. That's called a Rhythmic format. Some good stuff. I've been listening a bit lately and cannot deny that I still like the true sound of the rhythmic format.

Nothing will ever compare (Phoenix-wise) to these times - http://www.formatchange.com/1039-kbzr-becomes-arizonas-party -station/ but I do have to admit that although I do flip around quite a bit and have "formatted playlists" in my own 60gb I-pod perfectly the way I like it, I do love JamZ.

Kiss FM is pretty much outstanding to me at what they do for Phoenix as of right now. Good job Las Vegas with 94.5 The Vibe!!! Any stations "partying it up" or doing live (or pre-programmed) mixes or something different for the Holidays, kudos to you, too.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year people. "See" you all next year.
