Chicago airchecks page

I have significantly expanded my Chicago airchecks page the past few days.

Newly uploaded airchecks:

WLS-AM New Years Eve 1983 number 1 song of the year and then the all-time rock era collage at the stroke of midnight in 3 clips.

American Top 40 top songs of 1984 countdown on WLS-AM

American Top 40 top acts of the early 80s countdown on WLS-AM from 1984

Several clips of Brian Anthony filling in for Tom Joyner on the local afternoon shift on WGCI-FM in 1990 complete with Persian Gulf War Updates and Sybil Wilkes doing local traffic.

Several clips of the 106 Jamz morning show in the mid-90s

Several clips of the syndicated Doug Banks afternoon show on 106 Jamz in the mid-90s

A clip of Greg Brown on Hot AC/Top 40 Q-101 on Christmas Eve 1986

Numerous clips of WGCI-AM as Dusty Radio 1390 in the mid-90s

A clip of one of the first days of WGCI-AM rebranded as the new Gospel Radio 1390 in the mid-90s with the late, great Lon Dyson.

I have several more of WGCI-FM and WVAZ in the early to mid-90s including some of the local Steve Harvey morning show on WGCI (which only lasted a short period) which I will upload in future weeks, meanwhile, enjoy these if interested.

I really like your YouTube channel! Takes me back to the days when I really spent a lot of time with the radio on. I would love to hear some Z95 airchecks if you have them. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments. I remember taping some Z95 back in the day but so far I haven't been able to find any airchecks that survived. I will keep on looking.

Got those Steve Harvey airchecks from WGCI up. I think the year might be 1996. Some will recall this show only lasted a year or so, it might have been Steve Harvey's first venture into doing a morning radio show. I remember that he was gone alot and when I would hear the show his co-hosts would often be doing the show without him. A year or so later, Crazy Howard McGee was brought in for a long and successful run.

Once again, excellent airchecks page Scholarm!

I have joined your Facebook page and I'm really having a good time listening to the airchecks.

I don't know if you are interested, I would have to do some searching and find them, but, I have
some airchecks on Cassette from the Hot 94/7 days. I may have some old Z95, B96, WBMX and
WPNT when they switched from WXEZ. I also at one time had some airchecks from the old WFYR.

The Hot 94/7 tape would probably be the easiest for me to locate. The other ones I have are around
somewhere, but, after several moves will be a little harder for me to find.

If you're interested, let me know. I will try my best to find them and get them to you.

TR 1992:

Thank you very much for your message. It is great to hear that the airchecks I have posted are appreciated.

I think people would love to hear those Chicago radio airchecks that you have. I can't find any of 94.7 as a top 40 myself. If you can track the airchecks you mentioned down, please contact me at [email protected] and we can discuss making these available so many others can enjoy them!

Scholarm, I'm sorry I didn't see your response for so long. I will definitely start digging
around next week and look for anything I can find and get in touch with you. I look forward to
hearing them again myself! This will truly be a labor of love ;D

TR:

Let me know what you find, I look forward to hearing these stations again myself.
