Chicago Arbitron radio Ratings: May 2012

MARCH APRIL MAY
WBBM-AM 5.2 1,591,000 5.1 1,519,500 4.9 1,575,800
WBBM-FM 3.8 2,214,400 3.7 2,166,000 4.0 2,277,200

Do we simply add them together? Looking for an answer for someone who really understands the ratings system. That is not me. :)

I was referring to the simulcast of News Radio WBBM-AM which is carried on WCFS-FM. Apparently WCFS isn't rated or am I missing something?

Oops! I should know better. WBBM-AM did not take the calls over to the FM simulcast. Okay, I will crawl back into my hole and watch from a distance as I always have. :)

I believe that the only reported numbers reflect the simulcast (i.e., that there aren't separate reported numbers for the AM and FM sides). In that case, then WCFS wouldn't be officially listed, but would be included within the WBBM numbers.

I am really curious as to what percentage of WBBM listeners are listening to the FM simulcast. Anybody have a rough idea?

That's what I've been trying to find out. Doesn't seem that they publish that information.

It is surprising to see WGN so low, especially during baseball season. Have the changes they made backfired? Are they losing older listeners without gaining younger replacement listeners?

According to what I read Brandmeier's ratings have been slipping along with afternoon drive. I don't know specifically about the age group.

Stations that select single line reporting for a simulcast combo don't even get that data themselves for internal use unless they pay for special reprocessing of the data.

Well that obviously explains why it hasn't been reported anywhere.
