Will Blackhawks hockey help get WGN from now to baseball season? Also, what's the deal with ESPN 1000? A 1.1 on a 50.000 watt Class A is pretty bad.

The landslide at WLS-FM continues. For those that will say "it's the holidays" the steepness of the drop compared to other stations can't be ignored.

Good job Jan Jeffries--taking a station that was doing well and very well liked and turning it to garbage!

In radio, just because something isn't producing any results doesn't mean people will stop doing it. Take IBOC, for example...

WLS FM always did well playing mainstream oldies. Then Jan Jeffries had to mess up a fine station with "classic hits"..no Motown, pop oldies, etc. The jocks are legendary, but that's not enough, obviously.

Legendary DJs playing music that doesn't fit their image won't work. None of these DJs were ever associated with the music they are playing.
They've insulted the remaining "boomer audience" and have turned off the younger listeners that they were looking for.
Regarding WJMK, they didn't have anywhere near the ratings or legendary calls that the WLS brand has.

We all said WLS would tank, and a drop like that is not just holiday related. It doesn't matter how well they've been skewing in the past few months, they're losing their audience. A large portion of the holday listening is usually stollen from the more "female heavy stations". By looking at the ratings, I'd assume a lot of the falls in WILV (-.6) or WTMX (-.3) and others are likely where WLIT's ratings came from, but I kinda doubt the fall in WLS is attributed to Christmas. WJMK, maybe a little (as they didn't throw female songs in the trash like WLS). Just my thoughts though.

And no Jan Jeffries, your 70's at 7 or 80's at 8 will not help...we're wise to just reordering the same songs played all day long.

WJMK, still, has yet to offer anything new, or anything to help out the lost listeners of WLS. Not even specialty programming on weekends or nights. The few songs added, really add little to the feel or scope of the station. In fact, a lot are the same songs that WLS has taken a shine to.

Something's gotta give, and soon!!!

Why should WJMK--YOU'RE NOT THEIR TARGET AUDIENCE!

Regarding WJMK, apparently their "target audience" as you often state, isn't very receptive. Maybe they should target a different audience.
Regarding WLS-FM, they are clearly falling very fast. The station was making money with the old format. It's OK to go younger and try to make more money, but to do it as abruptly as Jeffries did was a major mistake, especially with other stations in the market already doing the format. Now on top of poor ratings, they've permanentely pissed off all of their former listeners. Even those in your TARGET AUDIENCE.

"You Don't Know What You've Got, Until You Lose It" (great song, but not in the TARGET AUDIENCE)

If by this comment you are assuming I am in the 55+ demo, your dead wrong. I've mentioned that in the past here...

And for your sake, I hope you neither are, or are related to Jan Jeffries. Though that would explain your stubborness around here ::)
