CHICAGO ARBITRON RATINGS: JANUARY 2011

How long will Emmis let Q101 and The Loop sink? Awful ratings for those stations as well as Fresh 105.9. With out Christmas Music, Lite took a hit as well.

It'll be more revealing to see how the 25-54 demos shake out. Though the 6+ ratings give some indication, the money demos are where it's at. That said, I'd imagine that the likes of Q101 and (to a lesser extent) The Loop will not be looking good in the 25-54s. Now, Emmis has already made adjustments to The Loop and we'll see if they can take a piece out of WDRV or Jack (not that Jack has much going for it either), but Q101 continues to be a train wreck. WXRT's resurgence can't be helpful for Q101 either.

We all know that both are on the block, but with no takers at the unreasonable prices that Emmis is looking for. Not sure that these lousy ratings will have any bearings on that part of the story.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It will be very interesting to see. Also, will be interesting to see if Jack is around that much longer. Can't imagine it will be past this summer. The biggie is who buys the Loop and Q101. Don't really think Emmis cares anymore about these properties. Would love to see Entercom come in and program them the way they should be. The Loop should be a hard rock/active rock station and Q101 should be a true alternative. A great example is KISW, and KNDD in Portland of how these stations should sound.

In New York, after CBS put "Jack-FM" on 101.1-HD2 upon bringing back "CBS-FM", they eventually done away with the branding a few months later; it's now "Tony" - as in "To New York".
