After a long day at work as a patent attorney downtown Indy, Jay Sanders was finally home to do what he'd been looking forward to all day.
Watch his beloved Chicago Blackhawks take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth game of the Stanley Cup finals.
On the couch, feet up -- with a beer -- wife and kids all around.
But the Fishers resident, who grew up in Chicago, soon found himself sitting inside a neighborhood bar on a stool Monday night. Alone with strangers.
Sanders, a customer of the direct-broadcast satellite service provider DISH, was no longer able to tune in to WTHR-TV Channel 13. The news station's media group had blocked access to DISH viewers because of failed contract negotiations.
Blocked from the Stanley Cup right before the game?
"I'm like, Are you kidding me?'" Sanders said as he sat in the Main Event at Geist on Olio Road. "It's not like I'm asking for that much. I just want to come home and watch my team."
Both Dish and WTHR say they are working to reach an agreement. But Sanders said that may be too late for him. After Monday's fiasco, he's considering dropping DISH.
