Great montage! The Blackhawks didn't televise home games until 2007 when Rocky Wirtz took over for his late father Bill, who refused to televise home games from Chicago Stadium or United Center for fear it would hurt ticket sales. They didn't call Bill Wirtz "Dollar Bill" for no reason! Blackhawks' fans had only one way to follow the team if they weren't at the game: radio. Lloyd Pettit made it better than TV.
Lloyd Pettit was so good that when he did the games on the radio (WMAQ) I used to turn off the TV sound & listen to him. Of course these were road games as home games weren't telecast.
Lloyd Pettit made me a hockey fan with those broadcasts in the 60's. He married well and moved to Milwaukee where the Pettit National Ice Center is located. I thought of him often during this year's run for the Stanley Cup. Thanks for sharing!
