Please help me understand why I should pay $450 bucks just to listen to more corporate syndicated music? Where is the originality. How about one of these "new" stations commit to playing only music from Chicago, recorded in Chicago, performed by Chicago artists, etc. It won't happen because I betcha most of this stuff is produced in a studio in some other town!

It's gonna be more of XM style blather.

Eventually the prices will drop. But i tend to agree. I still think they should have had this all planned out years ago so by now the prices would be comparable to xm or sirius. Spend upto hundreds of dollars or get something like the roady2 for $19.95. (and the $12.95 fee per month. Still!)

OK folks... try to grasp this concept.....

You have to put out the program material before the radios are here in force. Now the pogram material is here, so the radios will be here any day now. Then the price will drop. This is how satellite worked and it is how HD is going to work as well.

Why would anyone want to buy a radio that has no programming for it? This gives the broadscasters (and engineers) time to work out the bugs.

In regards to this stuff being produced outside of this town, where have you been? It has been going on for how many years now. Even Larry Lujack is not in town! And if you are a sateliite subscriber, where do you think the music and production comes from? It aint Chicago! If you are looking for stations that are produced in Chicago, with music from Chicago ya da ya da... it sounds more like a great mix CD you can create than a great radio station IMHO.

If you want local artists, you can listen to the college stations. You seem to think that if local talent gets played, it will automatically become a hit. It only becomes a hit if the *public* likes it. And unless your name is Billy Corgan, Kanye West or R. Kelly, most Chicago artists do *not* have the broad-based support to get played on mass appeal radio.

Oh, BTW, 9 out of 10 Ma and Pa businesses are corporations--are they also part of Evil Corporate Capitalist AmeriKKKa, too?
