Chicago Metro LPFM Applications

97.5:
Chicago--"M & M COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INC CHICAGO BRANCH"
South Side address. Can't get any more info about this applicant.

CC's got the ESPN Deportes translator on this frequency.

98.3:
Chicago--Legend Media Network Group
Has an Uptown address.
Chicago--"Chicago Hispanic Community Radio"
Near North address but phone has 214 area code (Dallas). A post on another forum says that a Bible-thumper in Dallas has been making many applications as "[COL] Hispanic Community Radio."
Evanston--Boocoo LLC
Is an NFP arts center in downtown Evanston, with a recording studio, classes, live performance space, etc. Sounds like the station could be a music-heavy volunteer operation.

99.1:
Cicero--Morton College
Chicago--UrbanMediaOne
Has a 60609 area code and local phone. This one could be the urban format that has a web site and I believe might be streaming right now.
Cicero--"Cicero Hispanic Community Radio"
Cicero address but same Dallas phone as "Chicago Hispanic" above.
Dolton--"Dolton Hispanic Community Radio"
South Holland address but same as Cicero above on phone.
Chicago (database misentered address for COL)--SEVENTH DAY WORD OF GOD CHURCH BAPTIST
South Side address.
Chicago--"Sound of Hope Radio NFP"
South Side address. The name sounds like they're shooting for a religious format.
Chicago--"UNIVERSITY OF HEAVEN WSDA BROADCAST GROUP"
South Side address. Sounds like they've got their calls picked out and sounds religious.
Wheaton--JerShare
Wheaton address and phone number.

Morton College will probably get their license. Not sure about the others.

105.5:
Chicago--Divine Reedeemer Presbyterian Church
Pilsen address. Could be Spanish-language religion.
Chicago--Eric May of "Roots & Culture"
Wicker Park address. Roots & Culture is arts organization, so I suspect would be doing community radio format.
Chicago--Public Media Insitute at "Co-Prosperity Sphere"
Bridgeport address. Lefty group that publishes Lumpen magazine and other lefty publications and activities. It'll be Pacifica-ish.

Roots and Public Media Institute are close enough that probably only one will get the license, but the church may be the one.

107.1:
Chicago--Chicago Indepenent Radio Project (CHIRP)
North Center address. Highest profile of the applicants, thanks to operating as an Internet stream for several years. Started after management of Loyola's WLUW left after the college regained control of the station from a LMA to WBEZ (although the station was and is still a student indie rock station and is pretty much the same). Sponsors concerts and club dates and holds a semi-annual record fair fundraiser (which they took with them from WLUW). Has live volunteer jocks 18 hours a day doing what we used to call "free form" radio (they don't allow specialty shows--the jocks must play several genres in their shows) and probably could go on air as soon as they get the license and put the transmitter up.
Arlington Heights--"Arlington Hispanic Community Church"
That Dallas phone, even though their name "Church" instead of "Radio." Pretty much gives away their intent.
Chicago--"North Chicago Hispanic Community Radio"
You guessed it--that Dallas phone number.
Des Plaines--Des Plaines Police Department
The mind boggles at the format.

I would think that if CHIRP doesn't get this, they've screwed up somewhere. Des Plaines is far enough away that the cops could get their license.

107.9:
Chicago--Mission Accomplished Corp.
West Loop address. Orgnaization that uses real estate training as a opening for Chicago youth in impoverished areas.

Will not happen, because SBS is going to claim interference on WLEY (which I believe IDs as "Aurora-Chicago").

Well, let's see who gets the frequencies.

I was gonna say, isn't 105.5 an active station? Star something or other. And 107.9 is an active Spanish. The old former Y-108.

And is a 97.5 in Chicago far enough from Rockford even if it is a LP?

AFAIK, WZSR in Woodstock's signal doesn't really reach Chicago, especially in between WOJO and WCFS.

As for 97.5, there already is a translator at 97.5, so WZOK doesn't matter here.
