Chicago Radio on Weekends (NINE LIT WILV)

Scanning the dial last weekend, there was a lot of 80's going around.

NINE-fm had "Nine Loves the 80's"

Pretty cool, middle of the road 80's, nice blend of pop, rock, alt, dance, urban. Nice production too, bunch of drops on 80s factoids, aka VH1. Was refreshing to hear this.

WLIT

ANNOYING: the interruptions on these "flashback weekends", Delilah, other occasional programming. Really out of place. Have to wonder how long these flashback weekends will last especially if LOVE moves away from the 60's titles and goes younger. Otherwise, musically a great trip back to roughly 75-85 pop, dance, urban music. This is the perfect compliment to JACK-fm. For the 40 year old female, this does not get better. And does not offend the males either.

Best song I heard that stuck out, "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice.

WILV

This is more 60's to late 70's pretty unfocused, but you do hear some 80's. Definitely targeting older than LIT, obvious by the playlist, jocks, presentation, love notes, etc..... Will be interesting what Ric and group will come up with over there and guide the station. But the "Love" moniker is as bad as trying to have a man agree he listens to the new breed of "Diva" stations popping up around the country.
______________

If you ever get an HD Radio or can manage to listen online, check out WLIT HD-2. Its Flashback Weekend without all the hype nonstop. Sounds better then the weekends.
______________

I agree. I think they've got a halfway decent playlist, but that "Love FM" moniker is way off. It makes even less sense in their new TV ad campaign.
