Yep. I grew up in a home where the radio dial NEVER moved from WIND. (Until I discovered WLS.)WIND actually topped the ratings several times in the few years of ARB surveys between 1965 and 1967
WIND's ratings started to decline when Howard Miller left in 1968. Declined, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they "tankded". Then around 1970-71, WIND made a nice turnaround when they went to what they called the "Number One Music" format. Which was oldies punctuated by one current single every half hour. It was a great listen, especially given that they had a talented air staff and a great presentation. Not to mention that they had (and still have) a fabulous signal...competitive with the 50kw blowtorches.....in most of the metro. But by 1976, the format had run its course and the oldies format on WFYR (FM) was beginning to siphon off listners. WIND flipped to talk not long after.
