Wow, WLIT absolutely destroyed everyone else.

Also I think this is the first time WCHI made the top 10 in any timeslot. Congrats to Josh Klinger. Man puts on a good show and I'm glad listeners are taking notice.

Have to wonder how long before Vertical Bridge takes an offer for the TX site in Tinley Park. The property just down the street is for sale as a "Hard-to-find development opportunity." It could be like what happened at WBBM and what might happen at WMVP: WLS would need to relocate (awfully expensive for Cumulus) or diplex with somebody at reduced power. It would be too bad all around.

I discussed this with Glen Clark shortly before he died. A couple of sticking points, but he said it could work.

I have seen several Obituaries, but this is the most complete overview. He passed away in April, 2019.

radioman, I will PM you with an email or two pasted into it. It may take a while to find them. Some of the posters here may be skeptical that these things were actually discussed about three years ago. We emailed for a couple of weeks and then he stopped. I thought I had made some profoundly silly analysis. I think he knew he was sick, but hadn't been diagnosed, when I last talked to him. He mentioned that he was all but retired, and that Ron Rackley was also retiring. Ron passed away before Glen. Next thing, I realized that he hadn't responded because he had passed away. It looks like he arrived at WLS the same year as John Landecker, 1972. I wonder if he knew him.

Thanks SC. I've heard you mention Glen Clark several times, but I did not know exactly who he was. Thanks for the clarification.

That's more than down the street. That's next door. The southern third of the WLS tower property is immediately to the west.

Unless this is a "prime Cell Coverage location".... Vertical Bridge probably wouldn't want the tower and upkeep. But they could make a quick bit of cash buying the WLS tower and property and spin off the land. Only time will tell.

Re WLS :
I'm an extinct minority at this site -- a Queens NYC / Long Island punk with a lot of radio experience in all broadcast fields but the ones that paid well. And somehow I got transferred to this Chicago site from the parent radio-discussion boards.
Being a few weeks* into retirement, I often wondered how well a station could make do -- especially an AM with such a huge signal -- by considering a full-service A/C station staffed by those personnel in retirement themselves and simply looking for a cup of coffee and for the audience rto have a good, light, fun time.

The demos would be beyond frightening for a few books -- they'd have Roman numbers -- and full-time 24/7/52 staffing would be a chore, but I simply toss out the notion. In such a major market there must be hundreds of qualified veterans who'd love to take another leap into the saddle and who would be satisfied with some grocery or bourbon subsidies.

( * Well, okay, 624 weeks into retirement. And one who hears a lot about retirement being overrated.)

Yes I believe it is. Actually seems like WCHI is actually affecting WKQX. Close to 4 trends now KQX is down or flat. Should be interesting to see if this continues. What will Cumulus do to try and fix it?
