I was thinking that Chicago's most underrated talker, or the one who goes most unnoticed for his entertaining show has to be Jake Heartford of WLS. Every Saturday morning, he presents a humorous take on current events, and his interactions with callers is quite entertaining. He has been a weekend staple on that station since the early 1990's. I loved to listen to him when he was on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Now, they have him on Saturday mornings, and they've cut back his hours considerably.
Currently, thanks to The Kevin White Show, Heartford's show only airs from 5:00 to 7:00 which is way before most people get up. They also have him cohosting a couple of helpful shows, but there, he is playing second fiddle to the host, and has to stay on the topics of cars or real estate. I just don't understand why someone so talented is stuck in such a rotten deal, and I am surprised that he hasn't left the station a long time ago!
