Chicken Hawk "Jimmy Severino" a NO Show

Looks like The Boston Globe might have gotten the best of Jimmy Severino aka "Jay Severin". This Chicken Hawk was a NO SHOW at 3:07 on Friday at his 96.9 time slot on WTKK. Sean Hannity [ assume that is his REAL Name] was taking his place.

Funny to hear Howie Carr start his show today claiming he was a Pulitzer Prize winner...."Oh, he said,"that is the other guy." Also said H.L. Carr is his REAL NAME..

Wonder if Jimmy Severino or his alter ego "Jay Severin" will ever show up again on 96.9.

I think like many of these on-air radicals they can dish it out but they can't take it when the boom-a- rang comes back and hits them in....while you pick your favorite body part.

If it is the Sean Hannity I am thinking of, he was very breifly a newsdesk reporter for channel 4. That was soon after his announcer gig wasnt renewed with the WWf/WWE.

BEST OF "JAY" OR "JIMMY" AT 6 ?

WTKK ran the BEST OF "Jimmy Severino" aka "Jay Severin" at 6 at the end of Hannity's shift. Real Brave Move.

Wonder if this is the last we hear of Severino/Severin of 96.9 in this 'incarnation'.

I think Jimmy/Jay's Harbor is beginning to Sag......... !!!

Howie Carr Links Boston Globe Story on Severin Carr's Website

In a very generous move for a competing columnist, Howie Carr has linked the Boston Globe expose on Jay Severin on Carr's/WRKO website.

I am shocked how magnanimous Carr has become.

Et tu Brutus ?

I'm pretty sure Sean Hannity has never done TV news.

His career path is pretty well known. He did a talk show for a station at UC/Santa Barbara when he was in school there. His first commercial gig was at WVNN/770 in the Huntsville, AL market, then he went to Atlanta (WGST) and NYC (WABC).

The Sean you are thinking of is Sean Mooney, who looks a little like Sean Hannity but that is where the similarities end.

Re: "Globe" article on Jay/Jimmy/et al

The dumbing down of radio. Love or hate Gene Burns, at least he has intelligence. At least Jerry Williams made people think.

Where Rush/Hannity/O'Reilly are merely spewing propaganda (who thinks those three REALLY endorse Bush without choking, prostitutes all), while Howie Carr is regional and forever beating a dead horse, Jay Severin somehow combines the stupidity of propaganda with his own dead horses to beat. He takes the worst of Rush and the worst of a regional guy like Car and somehow Joel and Infinity think it is worth buying?

PLEASE!

Does everyone forget the a true talent like Stern (who I personally find sophomoric, but have to take my hat off to him, he's a star and he's legit in his sleaze) clawed his way in, was rejected by the industry, and fought his way to the top.

Unfortunately, true talent has to kick the doors down. Hacks like Jay Severin serve their masters well without rocking the boat.

It's all about who Corporations can deal with, the public be damned.

My guess is that it is a coincidence, I doubt the story drove jay to take the day off he was probably already schedualed to take the day off. For all of his howling agianst the GLobe he seems pretty disingenuous in that I remember when the Globe was lauding him as a breath of fresh air and peoople like Mark Jurkowitz (who should know better) were writing glorious articles/profiles of Jay he was pretty quick to draw the attention of "the best and brightest" to the Globe. His "Im a libertarian" (which is really just a republican that believes in abortion rights schitck) was bound to eventually be seen for what it is, just a more palatable way of being conservative in a climate where the right wing republican is not seen as the sexy thing to be.

As for the Jimmy Servino name change to Jay severin radio folk can deduct no points for that, very few on air people use thei actual given names. He gets a pass there however if anyone remembers his short late night stint on WRKO a year or two before 96.9 picked him up you will remember that he was a completely different person on air. The moral is that there are no moderate or "liberal" voices that have any sort of profile (Franken being the exception) and they make no money, however Jay Severin the conservative (and in my opnion largely full of it) pundit makes quite a hefty sum. If taken at face entertainment value he's got a good act going, he does seem to take himself a little seriously as a NEWS figure though, therein lies the problem.

SO you decide.

I was in Southern VT yesterday and today, and read the articles (Simon and Lehigh) about Jay in the Globe (brought one up with me) in the afternoon. Had heard of the syndie deal
online yesterday just before I left. I assume it's for the 3-6 slot? And it was Infinity, eh.

I did hear Howie joking about it--I could barely pick up WRKO and also
WKBK was coming in (WKVT dropped Howie for AAR). As I understand it he's
Howard Louis Carr and VB changed the Louis to "Lawrence". And Jay Excedrin
never refers to himself as Jimmy Severino on air. (By the way, the cover of
Howie's new book says he's syndicated in a lot more places than he actually
IS these days, but maybe that was just the lead time....Go to thebrothersbulger.com and you'll see the jacket. "20 markets in 12 states".
Oops, make that 11 markets in 5 states, or 4?)

Jay and Lehigh clashed in the past, to the point of Jay calling the columnist
"Scat He-Lies". Interesting bit of prevarications. Oh, just little white lies,
I guess...

Am assuming WTKK would be interested in picking up the syndie show but if no,
would they offer it to WRKO? The station Jay has referred to as "Fart Radio"?
(And he used to work for 'em too...)

Anyway...so 96.9 had Sean Vanity on again (as Savage apparently calls him).
Will that be what 'TKK does if they don't renew Jay's contract, carry
Hannity instead (and maybe put a local host on later?)

Possible song quote about Severin, from Country Music Heaven denizen
Johnny Paycheck: "got hisself a flattop haircut/Lord, he thinks he's
cool..."

Re: "Globe" article on Jay/Jimmy/et al

Jay, Howie, Hannity etc all get good ratings. How is the public being damned? You could make this argument about Clear Channels support for Air America, which is devoid of any significant public support, but not about the ratings winners.

Re: "Globe" article on Jay/Jimmy/et al

as I said in another thread, liar or not... there was also a Globe article that said Severin is getting a national deal. Doesn't sound as though his career is on the downswing. I can't stand his show or his regressive viewpoints but that's the deal.
