CHIP FRANKLIN on KOGO this morning

Baltimore Talker Chip Franklin's show (I caught the first hour) was not all that bad....definitely a good respite from Rick Roberts who I have really enjoyed in the past. Rick is just getting too darn grumpy and keeps on hammering to death the same subjects (as others have noted).

The one shocker I had this morning was the lack of ads and how eventually Chip Franklin during his monologue slipped into a spoken commercial for AT&T. He started talking about how he was yet to get landline phone service at his home..."and of course, it is going to be with AT&T...the same people who in the past have brought us Cingular wireless.." yada yada yada. I haven't heard a spoken live commercial in years!

Overall I'd give him a B for the show.

I spoke with Chip tonight on the phone -- he's really excited about being here. The AT&T/Cingular ad was a riot, IMHO. I enjoyed the interviews on the street, especially the "presidential election" question.

See today's SDRadio for the additions to the show coming up, including his own Blind Movie Reviews.

Oh yes, Don Ayers, his East Coast producer has moved to San Diego and fills that roll at KOGO: Chip's Producer.

I missed the first few days due to the fact that I've been listening to German language CD's in the car. I woke up this morning to Chip and instantly realized why Dave Mason sounded sounded a little strange last week. Dave was usually pretty light hearted, but last week he sounded bored or just trying to get through it. No jokes, not much personality and there seemed to be nothing in the way of small talk with La Donna.

I listened to Chip yak about this and that, and one caller, but it didn't seem at all interesting. I agree about Rick Roberts, he sounds more like Hitler every time I check out KFMB. It seems like everytime I happen to switch for a minute he is yelling at some caller and cutting him off. Anyway, I'm sorry to see the news in the morning gone, I'll have to go somewhere else I guess. LA still has news in the morning, right? Maybe KNX.
