chr @ 98.1 ?

is it possible...
for a....well, 'energy of 2004' on frequencey 98/1fm ?

since the rogers-cluster of station's..doesnt have a
top/pop-40 (after 'losing' ciss-fm)..(is that correct?)

not a totally [email protected] -

but a station that plays the artists..such
as ultra-nate( "if u could read my mind...");
cher(new-dance material); but also mixes in...
celion dion..or a little hippier--playlist,
shania twain, but at the same time, will play
alice deejay "better off alone"

hmmm ?

new station, -slightly-different direction...
-the pulse @ 98.1
-'frequencey/channel 98'
- ciss 98? hmm

98.1 ?

I understand that Rogers has chosen to make a permanant move away from ANYTHING in the Toronto market that has ANYTHING to do with a younger crowd listening, outside of that really bad attempt to gain a younger audience using the Soft/lite music format...and they will continue to go after Women on 98.1, and MEN on Jack...what ever the format will be on 98.1 next.(lite or not.)

(I'm trusting the opinion of someone employed at Rogers, who may be right or wrong, respectfully.)

If it were up to me, I NEVER would have made 92.5 an urban station. I would have left it as CHR or CHR pop, or even CHR/rock (just enough to say it's not Z or Edge.)
They were doing good with Tarzan Dan on afternoon drive, and had good numbers just before switching to urban. Wether or not they were doomed to become Jack anyway, is still debatable.

I'd say the chances are about 0%. I think they're going the in the right direction with their recent tweak.

Re: 98.1 ?

Could 99.9 be EZ Rock's new home to replace Mix to make way for CHR @ 97.3?

Good speculation, but I think the word tweak is still in their game plan.
______________

No. They're not going to move EZ Rock. If they want to flip Mix to a CHR, it wil be on 99.9.

Re: 98.1 ?

Could it be Vibe 99-9, like Cowtown's CHR station on 98.5?

You should stop taking drugs. It effects your mental ability.

Vibe 98-5 is owned by Standard Radio, owner of CFRB/CJEZ/CKFM in Toronto.

But Why Vibe? Why not Bear? The direction you take this thread in, opens the door to change at sister 97.7, to become a Mix 97.7, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Again, Mix 99.9, with a slight tweak, but I don't see any drastic change because they DID try a tweak that involved major tweaking, but the pd at the time was only allowed to do around 75 percent of what he wanted to do, and the station chose to go back in more of a rocky direction instead.

My best guess(I said guess) is that they will continue to be Mix 99.9, and maintain a rock lean, while CHUM offers the Dance lean.

(Remember, CHUM and Mix are New music driven AC stations, while Jack is Classic driven AC, so, that's why I left out Jack.)
______________

There were a few rumours floating around a short while back about a Power 100 for Toronto, but they're dead now. (I think?)
______________

Mix 99-9 has been beaten by both 92-5 Jack FM & Z103dot5 (both tied in the ratings), so Flow's next door to Mix, all 'cuz of Mix losing its brief CHR lean last year.

I think the person I'm thinking of for Mix pd, is Eric Samuels. He was only allowed to do 75 percent of what he actually wanted to do with the station.

Another pd came in shortly after, but only for a short while, then that pd traded places with the pd in Montreal.
The station has had several pds in such a short time.
As for the morning show, different audience, and still doing ok for their target listenership...same for afternoon drive. The other timeslots may need work.
______________

You mean Mix 96?

Re: 98.1 ?

Mix 999 had so many pds in such a short time...and now...see above posting.
______________
