It is interesting to review some of the cyclical trends and personalities we've had in U.S. Top 40 music history:

late '50s: rock & roll
late '70s: disco
late '90s: teen pop

mid '40s: Frank Sinatra
mid '60s: the Beatles
mid '80s: Madonna
mid '00s: Kelly Clarkson

It seems that the odd decades have been trend-based decades in music, with the most influential trends dominating the latter part of each decade, while the even decades have been personality-based decades in music, with the most influential singers and groups dominating the middle part of each decade.

Of course time will tell whether or not Kelly Clarkson's musical legacy will have long-lasting influence, but at least for now her success has been very impressive since her debut on American Idol. And meanwhile, we have a young man whose music has taken Adult Contemporary radio by storm and whose singing style is the closest we've had to Sinatra in a long time: Michael Bublé. He has yet to appear on CHR playlists, but I think all it would take is for one enterprising station to give a few spins to the Starcity Remix of his "Save The Last Dance For Me".

It's a common mistake to not use punctuation in its proper form.
