CHR Concert Battle In ATL

Good lineups although both are pretty "safe" from both Star94 and Q100.

Star94: Gavin Degraw, Colbie Caillat, Flyleaf, David Archuleta, We The Kings
Q100: OAR, Natasha Bedingfield, David Cook

Star wins the younger end with Flyleaf and We The Kings but I have to give it to Q100 for imaging. Instead of selling tickets which I believe Star is doing the only way in is to win. Good Move Q100.

Thoughts ?

If by "safe" you mean boring then I agree.

Good move Q100, I disagree. Q100 is having their show at an 1,100 seat theater. Star is having their show at a 13,000 seat arena. Star can easily giveaway twice as many tickets and still have 10,000 to sell. Allowing all fans to attend not just those lucky enough to win or know someone at Cumulus.

Star 5 acts vs. 3 acts allowing more diversity and a broader base of fans but advantage Q on the better AI David but what no Matchbox 20 for Q.

Q100 will probably have a more intimate setting with more interaction between station and fans but again a real limited amount of fans will be attending.

Star will create far more buzz based on the sheer number of people attending which will be multiples of the Q crowd.

I say advantage Star on this one.

I'm not in the market so don't know the seat capacities. Based on that information I agree Star has a better show overall. I haven't heard how Star is imaging the show but if Q100 gets agressive in their promoting of the show they can make it seem like they are the good guys by giving away all the ticket as opposed to making you buy them. perception is reality.

personally i'd rather buy a ticket and see the star show because of flyleaf and gavin but i'm also not in the chr demo. david cook and david archuletta both annoy me and so does colbie for that better.

and yes i meant "safe" as in "laid back and boring." not one rhythmic pop or rhythmic artist on either show. very interesting.

Shows don't move the needle.

Even if Star sold out all 13k (which it won't with that lineup), it's still only a small portion of their cume. How either is branded on the air is the only hope of making a difference. If either actually entertain their audience in branding their shows (which would be a first for either), then they have a chance to be memorable for those that AREN'T going, which will be the vast majority of their audience.

Touting those lineups and "caller number 9 for tickets" isn't going to get them anywhere in the ratings world that we live in.
